They do not supply any harness. Emulator wiring is not difficult.
Emulator will be require
+ve
-ve
Can high
Can Low

And if you know those wirings on Quadlock, then its not difficult mate.
Emulator should give you +ve out for the camera.

Camera output connects to Quadlock on separate location which is shown in that listing.

PS: Always buy a decent camera. I went for bit expensive one and no regrets. Night time video is so good that I cannot complaint.

I would pay for a complete detailed installation guide! E91 CIC LCI 2009 here.

On a scale of 1-5 difficulty scale, this stays at 3.5-4.
You should have decent knowledge of the wiring. Remember if Kcan wiring get short, then you will looking for brand new junction box.
You should also know how to take different trims off your car.

If you have installed few bits and bobs on your bmw which involves wiring, then you should be good to go.

I've been having a major issue with this emulator... perhaps you can offer some advice?


to summarize the problem, my camera only engages on the first shift into reverse. every subsequent shift brings up the pdc/camera screen, but the camera is blanked out. It is not a video feed/power problem, but rather the camera being disabled. If it was a dead feed, brightness/contrast controls would remain enabled, and there would be a black video box.

The CIC variables i have coded are:

macro_pdc aktiv
macro_rearview aktiv
rvc_cic wert_23
macro_l6_parkmenu aktiv


to troubleshoot, i have tried the following:

1) tried removing the navi/voice emulator to rule that out (since my CIC is a retrofit)
2) tried adding 3AG
3) tried adding 507
4) tried coding defaults to CIC to start from scratch (with and without the added VOs)
5) tried exchanging the emulator for another one in case it was faulty

No idea what to do now...

You are doing so many unnecessary stuff to troubleshoot.
First protocol would be to connect multimeter to white cable (12v out for camera) and check if its getting the power on subsequent / frequent gear changes.

Sorry, forgot to mention I tried that. Even wired it directly to 12v to rule that out as an issue

Edit: I feel we can rule out the camera completely, because even without a camera present, it should display a black box with no video. Not a gray box with disabled video controls

In that case emulator is faulty or there is a design fault with it.
Get a replacement emulator and if that does the same, then its a design fault.

already bought a replacement. same issue.

I guess these ebay chinese emulators shouldn't be recommended until a revision then...

I can't actually find a single documented post where someone with an e60 or e90 has used one successfully.

Its a design fault mate. All other reverse emulators are bit expensive. I guess you should emphasis the seller to send the feedback to the company who designed / copied it but failed to test it extensively.

This is strange as you'd have thought they'd get loads of neg feedback if they don't work!?

I completely agree it is strange. Although when i look through their feedback (autofocus was the only seller of this emu for a few months now), there aren't really any comments on the camera emulators. And like i said, I can't find a single post on any forum about anyone using this successfully (or unsuccessfully for that matter).

all of the other emulators i see have a jumper or switch for PDC/non-PDC. The autofocus seller swears that their emulator "Autodetects" somehow and is compatible with both. On the other hand, when i contacted the new UK seller who stocks the same emulator, he told me he doesn't think it works without PDC, but will contact the manufacturer.

Believe me, i've been struggling with this for about two months now, going from forum to forum trying to troubleshoot.

Jammy, I really hope yours works and mine is just a fluke. You could basically have a rear cam setup for $160 with this emulator and the popular ebay camera.



edit: the seller is now stonewalling me because ebay found in my favor after shelling out for express mail to china and the package not updating tracking yet. they're bitter over potentially not receiving a $10 hunk of plastic...

You can you put the video wire in either 21 & 24 or 18 & 28.

I read you should use 18 & 28.

Shame you can't see who's purchased them, as then you can ask them how they got on.

I've noticed that bimmertech version has extra wires coming out of the emulator!?

i think 21 and 24 are fbas 3 (wert_23)

18 28 fbas 1 (wert_21)

or the other way around. point is, it doesn't matter which you use

bimmertech uses fbas 3.

Can you remember..... which pin did you connected the black wire (video cable) to? I'm guessing it'll be video -ve?

Out of interest, did you make a new harness or just tapped into the cars harness?

Well, i just confirmed with the UK seller of this same emulator (who contacted the manufacturer for me) that it DOES NOT WORK WITH NON-PDC VEHICLES.

i'm pretty pissed off considering how much time and money i wasted on this

i could file another claim, but then that's $45 to return via express (priority loses too many packages to china). I'll just try to sell it to someone who has PDC and wants to retrofit a rear cam
