Finally had a chance to do a proper tune on my truck a 2012 US X5D. Prior to that I ran JBD@100% for almost a year due to a non availability of ECM remaps to NA market.
The ECM had to be removed, disassembled and bench flashed. The gains according to Mega-Speed are around 50-55HP and 70-75TQ depending on if it's a 3 or an X. Eventually I will dyno my truck to find out. I have to say that I love the way my truck drives now. I just hated it in stock or JBD form, almost wanted to get out of the lease and grab the X5M. The 3er guys probably won't understand me, but we have a huge weigh difference over the same engine as well as slower shifting tranny and a 4 wheel drive. The response now with Mega-Speed in both D and DS is immediate there is virtually no more lag from the dig, or at least I feel that way when compared to above-mentioned. Power now is everywhere and comes on hard and smooth in a very controllable manner, not an ON/OFF switch any-longer that turned on at 1750 and off at 3000, it stays now way past 4000RPM. The tach needle just flies up there. Exhaust note became a little louder at higher RPM as with all remaps, probably due to increased injection. Truck reminds me now of my gas N54 335i tuned. The V-Max was set at 280km/h. I think, not verified yet, I noticed a slight jump in MPG even vs stock, specifically on the hwy. Price during promotion is $699 at Mega-Speed ONLY NA dealer JR Auto Electronics in Oakville ON. JR guys are very professional at what they do and where very detailed in data loging my truck during several runs after the remap was done to make sure everything is in order. They will soon offer a dyno for rear wheel drive cars at their new facility. Some of the parameters according to Mega-Speed lead programmer that were modified in this remap. For those who's going to try to compare it to a single rail pressure trick. Throttle maps and pedal Torque maps and limiters Injection correction maps Injector beginning time Injector fuel timing Speed limiters Turbo pressure maps and limiters Rail pressure maps and limiters Gear torgue maps and limiters and more... I can say with all due respect that this remap and I'm sure that Evolve and RennTech as well are simply incomparable in terms of drivability and response to a diesel piggyback (JBD in my case). |

I posted the DMS in the USA thread. They are shipping the tools they need for me to do the remap remotely. There are a lot of scheptics (including you, I believe) that do not believe it is possible to do a remap in this manner.
I tend to trust the forums on these things, but am giving DMS a shot. |

How would you handle warranty related to engine? Because I'm still under factory, I'm waiting until expiration for a true flash.

@PuertoRican
I lol'd. @eye4speed My truck is 2012 so still under warranty. The dealer will never know your car has been remaped, unless there is a major engine problem that'll require live data loging or tuner cels's would be present. I had my both 3 series remaped and under warranty with many dealer visits without any problems. However it's a risk your taking when running a tune. |

Just picked up the car from the dealer. Oil change, brake job, alignment, some other little things and multiple test drives. Tech never noticed the car was remaped, no codes either. I did though put my old set of 20" 214 wheels in the trunk to not let the car rip so fast during the test drives.

Just did my reflash Lenny programmed my car to have a higher topend, i tend to differ on earlier comments from NRG in respects to is better or whatever specially when its not been tried beforehand i.e. jbd versus the new program installed versus other tuners not instaled,having said that if ANYONE can attest to having ALL tuners installed then they can say whatsover, im not belittleling no one,but, merely suggest that try every tune then u can speak freely i for one favor RENNtech why you might say cause ive had on my both cars,is it the best tune out there, im not say just pick ur tune and b happy but dont do comparos w/o doing ALL of them,gracias

Glad you're back on your flash! In my past and very vast experience in the gas tunes on N54 platform I can say that nothing beats the remap in terms of drivability and response. Power and user adjustability however are of course the top benefits of gas piggybacks like PROcede and JB.

Another place close to me says $1200 for 335d tune with lifetime warranty on it and pre and post tune dyno.
Claiming gains of 65-80 hp and gains of 70-90 of torque at the wheels. |

I'm sure both tunes are very similar in nature with the AE one being costlier due to the lifetime warranty. |

.5-1 MPG increase over stock or JBD. Confirmed after 1500ml driven. Not much, but still an increase.
