at the end of the day, I'm still very happy with solar and how much it has saved us... with two AC units and a pool we were getting $500 bills in the hot days of summer before we went solar.
This bums me out as I was thinking of getting solar. I hate the idea of tearing up the desert to put industrial scale solar and transmission lines in, when every house can just be self-sufficient. The new policy is just to insure profits for PG&E/SCE.

Batteries still aren’t getting lighter and EV’s are getting heavier. It remains a concern for road safety. Some computer modelling shows that an EV can crush a smaller vehicle due to it’s heft in an auto accident. With little chance of survival for the smaller car. The battey on fire in the EV… well we all know about that issue.

Sadly not when it comes to green laws etc. Luxury Uk manufacturers are enriching Tesla's coffers in compliance

We shouldn't have been dragged into this, a separate island not connected to Europe, Jaguar/Rover fined? by a regime in Brussels that has overblown estimates on pollution that is being conveniently pushed onto vehicle manufacturers.

Germany being the biggest manufacturer of cars also is the biggest driver of the green agenda as the parliament is dominated by greens and is legislating its industry to extinction.
Talk about shooting oneself on the foot

Seems to be part of Germany's political culture. Recent example is to go all-in on a supplier of natural gas. Whoops, guess that wasn't a great idea.

No, they always have their own interests & pockets in mind. Nothing new. Nothing had changed.

I was talking to my PA the other day. She said she thinks her EV charger was hacked. Reading online. Cyber security is an issue. People can turn off charging midway and demand a ransom.

EV charging cables are an easy target for thieves and in UK if you charge on the street or even in your driveway overnight these cables are easy to take and sell off.
Of more concern is that charging one of these things in your garage may be like a grenade waiting to go off with the lithium ever at risk from igniting and even killing you if the garage is connected to your home.
It's well known by now that it's difficult to put out an EV car fire and it will burn for much longer whatever fire extinguishing liquids are applied.

Reading online from various news websites. The UK mainly burns gas and coal to generate electricity. There are not enough solar farms. Billions of gallons of gasoline (petrol) are sent from the UK to the US weekly on the cheap. Surplus fuel. Looks like Labour? Messed it up. Stating that CO2 was bad news. However, it was NoX from diesel. Now diesels pollute less than their counterparts. What a mess. Serious infrastructure is required. It just is not there. Neither is the battery technology but hopefully it advances enough in the future.

''Coal not dole'' as said by the former President of the National Union of Mineworkers Arthur Scargill still rings true to some.

It’s pretty hard to come by run flats in 22” guise. Also you need something ‘A’ rated because anything less will impact EV range. Many of them don’t come with a spare anyway.

^ I think run flats are heavier than normal tubeless and have more road drag lessening range and that goes for gas cars also. Always best to purchase a space saver spare wheel if there is just a liquid repair kit and carry wheel change tools.

IF it succeeded and IF an EV was your only means.

"High-altitude balloons, such as the one China has floated over mountain state military bases this week, are considered a key “delivery platform” for secret nuclear strikes on America’s electric grid, according to intelligence officials."

Uhhh, the wind blew it over there. That's the ticket!
