Tire pressures runflat vs non-runflat

Basic question, but are the tire pressures that BMW give on the inside of the door specific to the runflat tires the cars were originally fitted with?

Like most people, I use non-runflats but I've never been 100% sure whether to follow the same tire pressures with them or not. Most tire shops I've been to just reccomend 40psi all round for the 225/40/R18 and 255/35/R18 tires on my car. The sticker inside the door says about 38psi rear and 32psi front. Would love to get a solid answer on this.

TIA

there is no solid answer for this question. although the door sticker is a reference to the original RFT tyres, they are a starting point at least. i’d go a few PSI more in the back vs front. rest of it is based on experience, steering feel and handling.
