Thanks, PAMidge! Good info to know. I waited at the Apple Store in Tampa for 29 minutes and got (2) 8GB iPhones. 8 hours later and I can't put the thing down. Listening to music on it as I type this.

I walked into 3 stores later tonight around 9-10ish straight to the counter and bought 2 8GB iPhones at each. There's a huge surplus. Sucks for people that waiting in line.

Wow, all you guys sound like a broken record: No GPS, No 3G, No Thanks... Who's your programer/designer? ![]() In all seriousness, this is a thread for user compatibility with the iPhone. It isn't a thread for those that didn't want it, or won't get it to say why or why not. It's for people who have or want an iPhone to discuss how well it works with our e9x and integrated BMW features. It makes no difference in others' lives knowing that you don't want one, nor the reasons. It does make a difference to those concerned about its compatibility. So while we understand your phone concerns, this thread is about compatibility not about complaint about no 3G or GPS |

I don't understand why anybody would buy one of these off ebay for a mark-up??? The 2 Apple stores around me still have plenty. You can even buy them online for regular price.

Sounds great! I will get one eventually, just no rush for me right now. Likely will wait to see what sort of upgrades happen. Like most things...early adopters usually get the short end of the stick. (like the Pre-Sept 2005 E90 owners---me included!)

Here's what happens: Actively using iPhone --> Call Comes in --> iPhone music dims, pauses --> phone rings & displays nicely on the phone and iDrive Everything works as you would expect. Now, I rejected the call in my test, so I don't know if this makes a difference: Rejected call using iDrive (not the phone) --> Returned to the AUX display to the song I was playing --> iPhone remained paused --> hit the "on/off" knob next to the CD insert TWICE --> music resumed as normal. Now, I imagine that my "rejecting" the call may have confused the device, I think I would have had different findings had I accepted. Regardless, the bottom line is that the iPhone works using the iPod connecter for music WHILE you have the bluetooth enabled for use as a phone. Your contacts show up fully as expected. The only thing that did NOT work flawless for me was the return of music "unpausing" after I rejected the call. Last edited by JSTDR1V; 06-30-2007 at 07:46 PM.. |

Doubt it. The iphone hype has already been priced into current stock price. AAPL has seen a 40% increase since beginning of this year. It will continue to go up depending on how many user switch over in the latter half of this year.

i'm happy to hear this as well, time to get rid of my crackberry that doesn't play music, doesn't browse the full web and doesn't F**king sync to my damn car properly. good riddance to F**king T-Bullshit service also, I mean I can't even get service in my damn house, and please no Verizon acolights cuz their service sucks in NYC also. AT&T somehow works in rural areas of queens and can get reception in my damn basement, nice.
Ever since the twin towers went down reception in NYC has been shit!!!

http://www.pcworld.com/video/id,545-...d,0/video.html Looks like the screen is pretty much un-scratchable in real world situations. Apple is a very smart company and its obvious they have been developing this phone for years. They have learned a lot from the development and marketing of their iPods and did a fantastic job with the iPhone in my opinion. Yes, there are several shortcomings, such as no GPS, no 3G, and no instant messaging - but the overall usability of this phone is light years ahead of everything else and to me, that is what matters. Hopefully we continue to see improvements through software updates! |

The biggest short comming of the iPhone to me (besides price and the ability to edit documents) is the lack of stereo bluetooth, which would allow for wireless headphones. I'm surprised a music oriented phone would leave out this basic feature, which many other phones already have.
Whenever it comes to BMW, the ability to wirelessly receive music data from a stereo bluetooth enabled device and play it through the car stereo/speakers will be cool - and convenient. |
