2011 E90 LCI N55 335i Sedan M Sport
Manufactured Date: 10/28/2010; Purchased 12/31/2010 43K Miles (yep, only about 5K miles a year). Over the years, changed battery twice, 3 or 4 tires due to nails, regular air filter changes, regular oil/filter & coolant changes. 2 Factory recalls taken care of, and had the coolant reservoir replaced and a gas cap. I ordered a bunch of parts and I'm getting ready next week to replace the oil filter housing to oil cooler gasket and engine block gaskets due to very minor signs of oil leaks, plus intake manifold gaskets, new spark plugs because why not, new oil filter, new cabin air filter (don't think it's ever been changed), new wipers (existing are noisy), oil cooler o-rings, oh, and two jack pads on the passenger side fell off. |

2013 E92 xDrive 6AT 07/12 build date, purchased 10/16 at 42k miles with CPO through 2/19. Currently sitting at 66k. First 3 years the car was leased to a female doctor according to the dealer paperwork.
46k - replaced wiring harness due to mice, spark plugs, coils 50k - oil 58k - oil, brake, power steering, transfer case, and differential fluids 58k - driver right wheel speed sensor went out 62k - oil, coolant, transmission fluids + all filters - new gaskets for turbo, cooler, OFGH, ECU, and intake manifold, seals as well - 6AT transmission filter bought from FCP Euro was leaking after 30 miles, so had to replace that - DME bench flash to use MHD, VRSF FBO mods - intake valves inspected, very little carbon buildup Running MHD 2+ 93 for the past 4k miles |

- Gentle the first 2000 Miles (Break-in) - Regular services including all fluids (Xdrive and gearbox fluids every 60k miles - Gentle wenn the engine is cold - Let the engine and turbo cool the last miles of your trip (again gentle on the throttle) - When warm you can step on it when needed but not constantly It is an illusion when you think that hard driving does the engine good. My mix: 80% autobahn/ 20% mountain roads The car expierenced hi speed trips (500miles in 5 hours)

I have few such rules, other than the regular fluids/filter changes. Transmission fluid was changed once at 100k, and I will do it again soon since this car is at 205k. BMW/ZF calls it "Lifetime" fluid, but I disagree. It's really supposed to be good for only 50k. Oil/Oil filter changes: LiquiMoly 5W40 about every 10k miles. On really cold winter days, I do let it warm up a bit before driving. I just preventative maintained my 2011 335 with 90,000 miles to a new oil filter housing gasket, valve cover gasket, transmission fluid change and coolant change this weekend. Probably $2500 worth of work (from dealership) for $450. I DIY everything I possibly can. Saves big $, and makes these cars affordable to own.

2011 335i xdrive e92 AT(non dct)
bought at 58k 4 years ago. Had an issue with an injector stuck open which caused the engine to mix fuel and oil.. basically hydrolocked the engine a week after purchase. at 60k miles had a new motor warranty replaced (thank god). Currently has 160K on the dash. 100k on new motor. mods: FBO, pure stage 2 turbo, port injection, stage2+ 525 walbro lpfp Mustang Dyno: 495awhp/554tq (dynojet close to 540awhp) never had any hpfp issues, still running oem hpfp that came with the car. had coils upgraded to PR coils. never had issues with the oem ones tho. Ran close to 540awhp on e40 for about 6-9 months no issues. Now has a blown ring land and is sitting pretty in the garage until the motor gets built. During the 4 years of owning the car i have been daily driving it to work and school, no random issues. just the normal bmw stuff, like gaskets and oil leaks. i had all gaskets replaced twice within the 4 years and all other ragular maintenance. |

I know its not going to sound nice but honestly you just described a nightmare of a car ownership. Within 5 years 2 engines and replaced every gasket twice. I bet a 1970s tank fighting in Syria in a urban war zone that gets hit daily by RPGs has had less maintenance than your car. And i get that its modded but the money you must have thrown at that u could have bought a used GTR. |

You act like the only reason some of us have a 335i is because we couldn't afford a GTR. I'm not at all interested in them even if it was the same price as my 335

what ? GTR is just another car i could think of. There are many cars that make 400 + HP stock that wont blow 2 engines in 4 years. Either he has had some horrible luck or he is doing something not right. Thats all i am saying. Has nothing to do with which car ur interested or not.

Maybe I misread. Just seems like you have a constant negative attitude towards these cars for some reason. If it was all about making financial sense we wouldn't modify cars and we would all be driving Camrys. We're all a glutton for punishment and know what we're getting into.
