Making the most of your warranty

Hello guys,

I just picked up my first E90, a 2007 E90 335i 6-speed with 39,500 miles on the clock. When I picked it up, I noticed that the original owner bought the car in June of 2007, thereby leaving almost one year left on my factory 4-year powertrain warranty. The carfax report showed new tires, two oil /filter changes, brake fluid flush at 30K and the 30K service completed. The windows appear fine with no clicking sounds anywhere. Anyways, my question is, what items should I be looking at for a car at this mileage level and age so that I can maximize my warranty before it runs out? What do I do if I have an issue with my HPFP down the road; am I covered for that specific issue even after the warranty is over next June? Thanks in advance guys!

The HPFP is warranted for 10/120, so you should be good for that - but - have a trusted indy repair shop (ask in your local forums) take a close look at the car now. They'll probably charge an hour's labor but it should be worth it.

They'll find a few things that need to be repaired.

Then, a month or so before your warranty expires, have them look again - giving you time to get stuff fixed before it runs out.

I've found that this two tiered plan works best. It reveals current problems that the dealer should fix now and the second inspection may reveal some additional issues.

Hey guys, thank you very much! I will definitely do this and follow this regiment in the future should I purchase another used vehicle. Thanks again!
