"Chirp" sound when unlocking - possible without an alarm?

Is there a way to turn on sound feedback when unlocking the car without having to install the alarm? My old e46 330i (with an alarm) gave that nice "chirp-shirp" sound when the doors were opened and I miss it...
The manual says there should be a sound feedback option, but it's not available in iDrive when I open that screen.

Anyone had this enabled, or is it tied to the alarm?

(This is for a '08 E90 335i)

Thanks!

No, you must have the alarm for the chirp.

No, but you can DIY the light on the clown nose though.

The chirp comes from the siren that is apart of the alarm kit. No alarm means no siren which means no chirp.

I got the alarm solely for chirping when locking and unlocking. The blinky light was a bonus.

Didn't really care for alarm feature cuz if someone really wants your car, they'll take it.

If you do the DIY alarm install, you must bring it back to the dealer for "activation" so that it'll chirp.

Thanks, all for replies! I had a feeling it's the alarm feature. I like the retrofit idea though.
solefald - where did you get the kit from? Could you please give me a link or part #? I'm in NY, so I doubt your mechanic would fly out here from Cali to do the free activation Any idea how much a dealer would charge for it?

Thanks!

yeah the option is in the idrive with the alarm system. if you don't have the alarm theres only two checkboxes about door unlocking/relocking.

google idrive pics you'll see it.
