PS2N54 -
This is insane!
"Some assembly required"....(and disassembly).
This is an entire car rebuild - such an undertaking, for sure.
An impressive list of upgrades and replacements - wow.
Was the underside of the hood taped over the holes in the structural elements to prevent any debris from potentially falling into an "open" on the engine?
Is this a 7 speed DCT transmission?
Tell us about the solenoids you are replacing on the transmission.
Definitely interested in your project and really want to tune-in and watch this incredibe "refresh/rebuild"....

UPDATE:
Just did a search and read about the turbos and cyl head....this is incredible!
This is going to be a rocket-car.

it took me about a year to collect all the parts, many thanks to people on here.

the tape on the hood is to prevent scratches from my magnetic flashlights that i kept moving around.

the trans is ZF 6speed, next phase of build iam hoping to switch to DCT - for now iam changing all the shift solenoids and main oil pressure seals inside and flashing trans with XHP to get slightly more aggressive shifts.

i got engine on a stand and trans put away for now, next few days is just going to cleaning the frame and engine of the car before further disassembly. iam trying to buy a kid's swimming pool in middle of winter to use as a catch for washing the frame/engine inside my garage

Thanks for the update - love the kid's pool idea - brilliant as it is formable and large enough to catch the cleaning process.

My 13 335is E93 has 38K miles and will have the 7 speed DCT refreshed at 40K miles; love how incredibly fast the DCT shifts - its really incredible.
-I am considering this upgrade https://burgertuning.com/collections...ke-for-n54-bmw
-It appears you have these type air filters on your car.
-I always thought under-hood air was hot which detracts from engine air filter inlet performance of the engine.
-Is this type of twin filter successful b/c the stock filter box and filter box silencer, etc is so restrictive that by removing the stock filter box and utilizing twin filters under-hood that it provides the HP and TRQ increases?

Thank you for answering such an elemental question -

at idle and very low speed is really when it will pull in hotter air, the front air scoop+cowl brings good amount of cool air when car is in motion.

without the box for sure less restrictive, not sure about hp/trq increase on its own, but along with other mods that would demand for increase air supply, it's necessary.

iam likely going to create a custom scoop, heat shield and possibly try divert air from the brake cooler duct or add ducting where foglights go for increased cold air flow.

Thanks so much -
I ordered the https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...ir-filter-kit/

The Burger Motorsport site has a link to a zillion discussions re under-hood hot air vs performance gains of the dual cone inlet air filter system - your perspective is valued.

Brilliant idea to utilize an existing cold air duct (front brake air duct) - perhaps you can post these mods as your build continues.

figured a cheap and effective way to plug the holes on the block before doing preliminary wash down of the engine before further disassembly.

i stuffed papertowel/gloves into the hole, then filled top with hot glue. tested and works good. comes out nicely as 1 piece too.

CRC brake/parts cleaner caps are also perfect size for covering exhaust ports (i further sealed with hot glue).
