Question Headlight upgrade & MTEC bulb question

What's the difference of MTEC high performance version & standard version

Which one of the above would you recommend for the low beams of my 3 series w/ stock halogens.

I'd stay away from 100w bulbs. I tried 80w bulbs in my E36 and the wiring turned pretty crispy after about 1y. Go straight to aftermarket HID/LED; it's not that expensive.

MTEC's are great, to be honest there is not much difference between high power and standard aside from the wattage the bulb is rated at. They are your generic bulbs with a glass coating to create the specific color emitted. After having paid USD + shipping its not worth it.

Like kenmar said, skip the bulbs and go straight to the HID conversion + coding route.

If not then look into buying SilverStar Ultra or SilverStar zXe from SYLVANIA, these are the best halogen bulbs on the market period.

I dont wanna spend that much at this time tho.

Would you recommend LUX V3's halogen and get an HID convertion kit for my low beams?

You keep the entire housing but add HID ballasts and H7-compatible HID bulbs. Note that you cannot certify a car with aftermarket HID kits with the new laws in Ontario.

www.lumenshid.com is a local manufacturer. I installed a Lumens H7 HID setup on my VW last year. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have an H7 kit from what I can tell. I retrofitted an leftover H4 kit from my old Honda. Prior to the HID, I tried the PIAA bulbs, which are probably 2x brighter than stock. The HID is more than 5x brighter than stock halogens.

absolutehid.ca seems to carry direct plug-in kits for BMWs, but I've never dealt with them.

If you have oem halogens, do not put HIDs. HIDs are meant to work with projectors, halogen lights work with reflectors, and will blind incoming traffic if you use HIDs in them.

Change the whole housing, like the link you posted. Convert to Xenon, you can also look into Depo headlight options.

Halogen headlamps + HID bulbs ? This combination is not a good idea at all my friend .
