Front bumper damage!

Hey guys,

I have a SGM 2011 335i e90 msport. I believe to hit a giant rock on the road...which caused damage to my front bumper . I went to a local body/paint shop that did a great paint job on my dad's van. They quoted me about $300 (I will take the bumper off myself). The only issue is that they do not use OEM paint. So they basically will fix any damage to the bumper and respray the whole thing.

Is this a good price? Should I be worried that it's not OEM paint even though it will most likely be matched perfectly?

I just need some opinions.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe just try to leave it be or put a front lip/diffuser to hide it. Re-paint will never ever match, especially on plastic vs metal surface if it has been repainted you will be able to tell in various lighting conditions.

Of course you won't notice 10 feet away, but you will be able to tell up close

Garage List
I did my bumper in on a silver 2010 E90 M-sports and I am happy with the paint job. I had a new bumper installed however, so slightly different circumstances.

I agree it will never be like out of the factory but leaving it damaged as is doesn't work either.

Best of luck and I sincerely hope it gets fixed for you.

Have you thought about maybe getting an aerosol cans of PPG Space Grey and Clear and try to blend it with the rest of the bumper? It may not be perfect, but much better than having the whole bumper repainted. Best of luck.

I've had pretty good experience with having bumpers resprayed, but my car is Alpine White so it's a little easier to match (bought my car as a CPO and the dealer redid the front bumper as part of the sale since it was chipped pretty badly - you can't even tell).

Just make sure you take it to a competent shop that has a proven track record and you should be fine. Even if the match is not 100% chances are that you will be more satisfied than keeping the bumper damaged.

$325. They fixed everything and even covered up my license plate holes in the bumper. Paint is perfect

Can you send me a PM for the details of the shop. I'm Local and need to get something painted. Was your quote higher because they needed to do more prep? Im assuming they used some filler and sme sanding to get it looking fine.

Interested too. I wen to Patrick Collision to get a quote for a front bumper respray (similar amount of damage different part).

They will let me know on Monday.

So if your paint was good Id give the shop you used a shot.
