Transmission fluid and filter change
Is it too late to change the transmission fluid and filter when I am right under 110,000 miles...I have a 2007 328xi...

BMW recommends 100,000 mile changes so what is another 10,000 miles among friends? It's not too late.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

I have heard that flushing (as opposed to draining) can force dirt particles into the various valves and openings and clog them up, so it is supposedly not a good idea. May want to get a second opinion on that

I think I've read something similar on the forums, where people with auto's who flushed instead of just draining were experiencing rough shifts.

Do whatever you want, but the operation of the transmission will eventually pump the new fluid in the transmission through the torque converter anyway. |

If you DIY, here is the drain-and-fill method. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=367729
If you take it to a shop they will flush it. Either way you should be fine. |

I am one who had a transmission fail after flushing the transmission. I was there when it was disassembled and the check balls did have debris on them which previously was doing no harm. Thus this is why I NEVER do a flush on any auto tranny past 60K miles.
Not anecdotal but real hard evidence. Since dropping the pan and changing the filter and refilling multiple BMWs I have never incurred another problem. OP your car your call but I sure as heck would not flush a transmission with 110K miles... |

I'm at about 67k miles and wondering if I should do this before my CPO is up? I've been advised that I can wait till about 80k miles and do the auto+diffs+transfer case all at the same time? Here you go --> http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E90-328..._Transmission/ |

Just got an appointment with turner motor sports and the service manager said he does not recommend doing anything with the transmission...so not going to mess with it...
