Why do you debadge your car?

I was wondering why people debadge their car once they get it. Is it because you dont want anyone to know what engine size you have? If your trying to fool other bimmer drivers, those are the people that would know what you have even without a badge. If your trying to fool the general public, they couldn't even give a crap what you have anyhow. Or is it cause you have a 323i and you debadge so people think you have a 328i? Aren't you just fooling yourself or is it just plain cosmetic reasons? Any logical explanation?

Depending on your setup the rear end looks a lot cleaner when debadged. No body is doing it to fool people. Its for looks.

'clean look'...? i think with the badge looks great..especially if you have a 335i or m3... it looks 'cleaner' as it is with it on.... and IMO looks out of place without a badge and cheapens the overall look....

Def for the cleaner look.

Debadging is popular in Europe. It does cut down a bit on people trying to race you.

I don't care that I have the bigger engine, I debadge anyway. I'd debadge an m3 if I had it. I didn't buy this car to impress anyone but myself.

how about some matt/gloss black badge? I think they are a good compromise, under certain angle/distance/lighting you can achieve either debadge/stealth/oem look.

Debading is ok in my book, but I'm more worried about the ones that slap on the M badge to their car even though its not a M series. It's just a sad story to me...

I did it because I have debadged all the cars I have owned and I personally think the car looks cleaner. It is primarily a personal preference though.

As far as wanting the badge if you have a 335 so that people know you have a 335, there is a bit of a flaw in that thought. For anyone who is going to know what the difference between a 328 and 335, they will know it without having to see the badge on the back. For those who don't know the differences between what a 328 and 335 looks like, they aren't going to know the differences between the badge numbers anyway.

I don't know that I would call it an "excuse" it is called a personal opinion. That being said, with the Roundel in the middle of the trunk, and the badge on the right side, it is a little off because there is nothing on the left side to offset the model badge. I am just fine having the BMW roundel back there. I also will not take delivery of a car with the Dealer's stickers on the back either for what its worth.

All down to personal opinion though....

It's just a cleaner look... I don't really care if people know what engine I have... they can try to race me and find out I guess... I love my car debadged... To each their own though!

I'm not buying it either. The car looks pretty clean already. How many 330i or 335i people take off their badges? I bet it's much less. Why don't "M" drivers debage? Would look much cleaner...right?

dealership stickers must go....everything BMW...well?...you paid for it, leave it.

If you got a bare ass stock Lamborgini Murcelago, would you mod it? debadge it?, Hell to tha no.

My E63 debadged looks almost like an E350. A wolf in sheep's clothing.

Agree, it also keeps the boy racers out of your hair. Sometimes they're like gnats on a hot summer day.

Not sure what the emblems look like on this, but YES I still would on this car as well and just leave the Lambo badges.

Also, you leave the ///M badge because it is a special edition, the 335 is not a special edition, that is where the difference is with that in my mind.

Don't get me wrong I'm all about modding cars, but I always leave the emblems/badges alone.

I've never seen an M3 debadged.....I rest my case.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

why? because it is my damn car and I can do whatever I want to I did mine to make it look like the M6, M3 is too cheap. Plus that badge is heavy. I gain like .3 sec with it off.

but really? just like other options on the car, some like it, some don't
