A Few months back I bought a 07 335I. I love driving this car evenmore than than my Z06. My only issue is I want more power out of it. So this being the first turbo powered or BMW I have ever owned I need some help with this.
My CPO runs out in November and I want to tune the car. I think the Cobb is what I am going to go with. I am open to opions on other options but seemed to be the easiest to install and I liked being able to load through the ODBII.

My only concern is that I my car has the Active Cruise Control and I do not know if there is a FMIC that will fit it. Does anyone know if there is one made for my car.

I have cobb its a good tune i like it alot, also for ease of installation and changing/removiong tune. I dont think active steering has anything to do with FMIC but it does have something to do with what intake you can use. i could be wrong though.

IF you read down a few threads we just had a "heated" debate about the options for a FMIC. My opinion, one that is shared by hundreds of others, is that the Helix IC is the best. They did the R & D, testing, and the legwork to come up with their design, which has since been emulated (borrowed?, manufactured in tribute to?, replicated? imitated?) by some other recent players in the FMIC game. But if you want to talk ICs, mods, tuning, and all things shop, with a guy who is fanatical about this stuff and also happens to be a nice guy, give Eric a call at Helix:

COBB is a great choice. I'm sure you'll love the added power. You can buy it now till you figure out the FMIC portion. The ease of install is only one of the features... Great product and tune.

I can;t help on the FMIC portion. A local guy I know has active steering and runs the ETS 5" which is a great FMIC (no cutting required, and proved potent). But I'll wait until more people give insight on this point.

Congrats on the new car..

Cobb is a great choice for tune, but do some searching and read up on the JB4 and the Proceed..

As for the FMIC the ER FMIC is confirmed to work with active steering as well as the AMS FMIC. The AMS FMIC I have seen with my own eyes installed on an active cruise car

You can't really go wrong with Cobb. It's the easiest tune to install, can't really screw it up and it gives you a very noticeable bump in power. Plus you can download different maps, you choose one according to your mods. You'll like it, if don't simply uninstall and sell it. BTW Nice car!

Procede tune for sure and I would go with the Helix FMIC! Another tune I would look into would be JB4 (probably your best bang for your buck, if you dont want to spend a lot.) Another would be GIAC...Also some FMIC's to look into would be Evolution Racewerks and ETS.

Just do a lot of research before you buy and narrow down your decision..then choose which makes better since to you.

Whatever you decided, I'm sure you wont be disappointed.

Don't buy a tune because people say stuff like "(insert tune name here) is the best" "(insert tune name here) for sure"

Proceede / JB4 / Cobb are all great tunes.

About the FMIC ER and AMS are the two (as jeff said) I have been told work.

the ets 5" intercooler is great, it fits perfectly without having to trim or modify any bumper support pieces. the core size is perfect for the stock turbo's, and unless you're doing a turbo swap down the road, the ets will suit you fine. it's a lot more efficient than other intercoolers because of the higher number of charge rows for it's size.

You know it really depends on the level of performance you plan to take the car to. I hear a lot of good things from JB4 and Cobb, but I personally run a Vishnu Procede. The JB4 and Procede installations are very simple, and if you ever plan to run Meth, the PWM kit for the Procede is truly the way to go. Procede is also actively testing E85 now and should have a 50/50 solution with a integrated Ethanol sensor kit that will adjust the tune level accordingly. Not to mention Vishnu has recently developed the first single turbo upgrade that is making over 600 rwhp. I have personally rode in this car and it's truly in a different league.

I'm run a full bolt on e92 with aggressive maps and meth as my daily driver. I just started blending E85 to my local 92oct pump fuel. Knock on wood, I haven't had any issues with 61k miles. The car truly performs night and day from a stock 335.

So again, depending on your goals do some research. You have a lot of great aftermarket products to make your car go fast and look good. Regardless of which direction you go, just have fun getting there.

It's true, all the favored tunes have evolved (and keep evolving) to the point that there really isn't a bad choice. We're all pretty fortunate in that respect.

Cobb / Procede / JB4 are all good tunes.

One that often gets looked over is GIAC, they make huge power and a flash is more safe for the car. They also offer a handheld switcher where you can switch between 91/93 or 100 octane performance maps or back to stock or valet mode. You can switch on the fly too!

I'll put my 2 cents in -- All of them (Burger Tuning, COBB & Vishnu) are great tunes, but I felt most comfortable going with COBB. They are easily the largest company, have the most experience in tuning cars (look at their work with Subaru's, the GTR, EVO's, etc.) have probably the best R&D out of all of the companies. Like you mentioned, COBB has the benefit over the others that you never have to lift the hood to tune your car. COBB also worked best for what I wanted to do to my car: a filter, FMIC upgrade and eventually DPs. I don't want to run meth & this is where there the PROcede & JB4 have a leg up on the COBB.

The COBB is great for someone who wants convenience of downloading the map that corresponds to their mods, downloading it on to the Accessport & changing the settings on the car. The PROcede & JB4 gives its users the option to take a much more "custom" approach to tuning their cars. I personally wanted the tune that was going to have the lowest potential for damaging the engine & greatest simplicity, so in my case the COBB was the right choice.

For you, it completely depends on how much you want to modify your car & how hands-on you want to be with the tuning. Truth of the matter is you really can't go wrong with any of them.

Tune your car before your warranty is up so if anything is on its way out you can get it replaced under warranty, can save you a lot of money if something major like turbos are on their way out.
