Best winter tires for RWD
Hey everyone,
I live in New England and its almost snow season so I am in search of new snow tires for my 11 335i RWD. I don't plan on driving the car in really bad snow storms but will need it for normal winter days with a few inches of snow. I was looking at tires and came across Goodyear Ultra grip Ice WRT. reviews seemed good and price was decent. Just wanted to see what everyone thinks. |

I went with Michelin XI3 myself, I'm also located in Rhode Island.

Just mounted the Altimax Arctic 12's on my 328. Pleased with how smooth and quiet they are. Will update on how they do in the snow.

So far the ride is soft, and the handling is a bit more mushy. The tires are fairly quiet, and fuel economy remains good. I tested them this weekend on some mountain roads that had 2" of snow cover, and they performed extremely well.

Blizzak WS80's if you want the absolute best deep snow traction available with the downside being they are a super soft tread that can wear out faster than others. Xice3's if you want great hard packed snow and/or ice traction available with a small sacrifice to deep snow traction. I don't believe in the concept of performance snow tires. When it really dumps I could care less how much clear road traction I have available, I just want TRACTION! I'm willing to accept the fact when the roads are clear my car won't handle like a BMW should (re: arguing against the concept of "performance" snow tires").
