Alarm system retrofit info
If you have a local salvage yard, the alarm system on 2004+ 7 series is the same as e90, pulled one this morning, and installed the alarm. Spent a whopping $40 for the ultrasonic sensor, siren, and hood sensor. I will still need a bracket (that didn't fit) to mount the siren but everything else was p&p. Thought I'd let you guys know in case you wanted a more cost effective solution for the retrofit.
-R Edit: I also got the control modules for tpm at $10 each. Pulled from a 530. Will post back results once I test drive the car. |

Good info. If you really want to cheap out, you don't really need the hood switch for the system to work. And the siren can be stuck to the metal above the wheel well with 3M double sided tape.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I thought of doing something like that, but it's not really about the cheaping out part, but I'll definitely keep it in mind, Thanks!
As for the tpm modules, they function, its the sensor on the rim itself that is bad (at least now I know haha) so if anyone needs some tpm modules just shoot me a pm! |
