Exclamation Alternator Voltage and after market amplifier

Hi everyone! I have searched the forum before posting this. I have found that the alternator is correct and can charge as high as 15.3V in cold condition and full load but my question is.... does somebody have an after market amplifier wich is rated input power between 10.1V and 15.1V? Iím concern about the thing that my alternator can reach 15.3V that is over my amp rating. Normaly my alternator charge around 13.8V and 14.4V but can peak to 15.3V when itís cold outside. Did someone fried his Amp due to this alternator voltage?

Pioneer answer me that it can frie my amp if it stays constant at this voltage... so, i can tell you guys, donít use a capacitor because the capacitor will charge at your alternator peaks and will stay at this voltage if your amp is on but no music is playing... it happen to me and fried an amp. But i need to know if anyone had problems with aftermarket amps without capacitor and alternator reach over 15.1V

Thanks

There is a whole stereo board(sub forum) here and people have been putting
amps in these cars for since the first model year .
You don't here of amp damage or putting to much equipment in
to over burden the electrical system.
The pro's say it can power up to 2000 watts .
that being said 15 volts is on the high side .
I have never seen over 14.5 on mine but I don't look at it all the time.
I have had JL 600/6 in mine since about 2013 no problems.
Also it seems like you are spitting hairs at 15.3 vs 15.1
A good amp will have overvoltage protection built in.
Car Stereo amps are rated at 14.5 with the car running and 12.5
for not running .

Also the amp and Radio are never off as they run the Alarms and Dongs.
Even if you turn the Radio off all you have done is mute the display.
The amp and radio and a lot of other stuff will stay on till the car goes
to sleep.

Read about the IBS in the first electrical pdf
and sleep mode.

Measure voltage at amp, as it should be lower.

That said, I don't believe 15.1 volts should be a problem, and the amp should have some sort of overvoltage protection.

Thank you for your answer, i feel more secure. Thats just because i fried an Hifonics brutus just being on without music playing. I know that everything still have power always but i have installed a switch on my amp remote wire to control on/off on my amp. I have a pioneer gm-d9701 amp now and it's a good quality and they told me that constant power over 15.1V will frie the amp.

Those 2000 watt amps you buy for 100 bucks per unit
are pretty much the bottom of the barrel.
