Has anyone contacted BMW regarding 29.2 and lag?

My car was recently built, and driving it I'm pretty sure it has the 29.2 as there is some lag. I can't compare to what it was like before. But it seems almost unanimously everyone hates the lag that comes with 29.2. As evidenced by Dinan coming out with the revised flash, customer complaints can make a change.

Wouldn't you think enough unique complaints may make BMW consider fixing this new lag? Personally when I have contacted BMW before through CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com the people I dealt with were horrible to say the least, so I'm hesitant too. I'm just thinking a few of us taking 3 minutes each may lead to a benefit.

Who knows, this may already be resolved with this progman 30.

EDIT: BMWNA can be reached at 800.831.1117
EDIT: Here is a way to email BMW AG:
http://www.bmw.com/com/en/general/contact/contact.html
in the upper right corner, there is a "Send e-mail to:" drop-down box, select "BMW AG worldwide"

Please read these frequently asked questions FIRST
Q: How can I know what "Progman" version I have?
A: You can't tell yourself, there is no possible way. You can try and ask your dealer to tell you.

Q: Can't they just flash me back?
A: Although they could, they won't.

Q: But what if my dealer still has the old software?
A: No use, your car's software is newer and thus, you'll get no update. A special software is needed to downgrade which normal dealers don't get their hands on nor are they permitted to use without a BMW order to do so.

Those with the 29.2 flash should call BMW NA and complain about every aspect of that revision that negatively affected the car.

I saw that, which shows there is hope. Unfortunately I think you are in the minority.

If you have been re-flashed with 29.2 there is a bit of softer throttle control. This can be defeated with a slightly heavier foot. The power levels are the same and the torque is nearly identical. I know cause we have tested both.

The throttle lag on pre 29.2 cars is bad enough. I can't believe they would purposely tune in MORE throttle lag.
I have to drive around most of the time in DS mode just so I don't have to deal with the throttle lag of normal D.
But DS is too aggressive and wastes too much gas for normal driving.
They really need 3 settings.
Economy (what is the normal "D" mode now), Normal (which would be 1/2 way between what is normal "D" now and the current "DS" mode) and finally DSport (as it is in "DS" now).

To say there is not more lag w/ 29.2...well...I don't know what to say..it's just nearly unbelievable. I mean, you go from probably THE most lag-free performance car available to the general public and make it into a ho-hum turbo response...it's night and day. It's simple mechanics too. The wastegate is clearly more open under idle and light load (hence the car being loud as ballz now when puttering around) and that also equates to increased wastegate closing time, and hence more lag.

Anyway, I wrote Customer Relations on the website and got a BS useless response. Maybe calling is the way to go. They sure hide that phone # and don't make it easy to call...unless I'm missing it on the "Contact Us" page.

Also, make sure to mention it to your SA. It can't hurt. I told mine and asked if he's had other complaints. He said "No, but I'll make a note of it since you said it." The more they hear, the better the chances for a fix.

One would have to think that it's only a matter of time before either a long-term test car of a car magazine gets the update and they rant about it, or, for whatever reason they test a new '08 and write up how it feels like crap compared to the '07. The latter is less likely because unless they are driving it nearly daily, like in the case with the long-term testers, it will be more difficult to notice so easily.

I tried to be polite about it in my original post, but the customer relations people are retarded. Trying to explain my previous issue to them was like trying to explain physics to a baboon, it simply wasn't working.

I absolutely don't disagree that peak power/tq feels fine, as before 29.2. I do disagree that the softer delivery can be negated with a heavier foot. Just take throttle modulation out of the picture and slam it to the floor on a pre 29.2 car and then on a 29.2 car and it's a different ballgame.

Even if the torque/hp were the same, I should not have to be subjected to more lag. The idea of peak torque at 1400rpms, per what they advertise, is why I got the car.

EDIT: I'm an idiot, I have BMWNA's # on my phone, will update the original post.

Correct, it's like they copied the original Dinan flash, where it was so soft, hitting the throttle deeper always made the car drop a gear or two, it's almost dangerous.

Yep. Kind of like asking for a tiny metric set-screw in Home Depot. Good luck with that.

I see what you are saying, I guess since we forced the car to re-adapt afterwards and drove it hard maybe our car feels different. (shrug)

I felt mine re-adapt for proper power once the boost has built, but, it's the time that it takes to go full-boil that is still annoying and hasn't improved. It's a solid 1+ second now from flooring it at, say, 3000 rpm, before I feel full boost built and I start to fly. Before 29.2, it was nearly isntantaneous.
I'm surprised a car could even potentially "adapt" out this lag, since it's caused by a physical change in the programming of the duty cycles of the wastegates. Having them open more of the time equates to longer boost build time.

That's why you need to go to Lowe's.
They speak English.

I remember when the fuel pump problem started in early 2007.
There were numerous accounts of it on this forum.

When I called BMW NA about it (twice) both times the representative denied knowing or hearing anything about it. LOL

I think they are trained and told to deny knowledge of ANY issues with BMW cars, but to say, "well we appreciate your call, we will log your call and have someone look into it."

They clearly have to know about the complaints many of you with 29.2 are having. Denying it seems status quo.

Calling now. Will update with humorous response momentarily.

Edit: Well, the guy was super nice and while the call result wasn't a surprise, it went better than I anticipated.
I explained the issue and he pulled up my account to confirm I got the update on the car a couple of weeks ago. He said he has not heard of this issue, but that he's happy to document it. He said if enough people continue to notify them of this same issue, BMW will absolutely take notice. He ended the call by saying it was refreshing to speak with someone that actually knows something about their car, and they rarely get that.

So, bottom line is, if you are less happy with your 29.2 than before your 29.2, CALL THE NUMBER IN THE OP'S POST. It takes 5 minutes or less.

Did you ever test drive a 335 before you got yours? Susan Koman events? BMW Driving events? Drive a friend's 335? There are other ways you could see what we have to put up with now with 29.2 as compared to before...although then you'll be more pissed.
