Virus on Rheingold file?

I was trying to install ISTA and when I was unzipping the files, my virus software found a trojan virus in one of the files. I downloaded ISTA last April 2019 but I had problems installing it so I'm trying again now that I have more time during Covid. I have a working copy of INPA, and NCS Expert which I use.

Is this file necessary, is my virus software too sensitive or should I find a newer version of ISTA?

Thanks

Classic McAfee thinking a .cfg file is a trojan. False positive:

If you're going to use residential AV I'd recommend Sophos, Trend Micro, Symantec, or Crowdstrike over McAfee... otherwise you're better off just using Windows Defender.

I had Bitdefender do that too...BUT...it depended on which package that it hit.

Heheh. Though you won't catch me with a Symantec product till they streamline their product to let a computer actually work. Trend Micro was a surprise to me; and always thought Bitdefender was a step above ESET.

Symantec actually keeps you safe by consuming all system resources so nothing else can run

Yeah it surprised me too considering I paid $5 for a 4 year sub to MalwareBytes before Gartner released that report.

Honestly though, the best protection is common sense: don't click on sketchy links without using reputation websites and only install pirated software in sandboxes.

Thanks turns out that was the problem!

Solved that but the next problem is when I try to read the vehicle data it brings up this connection manager but I know my connection and cable is working because I can connect to INPA.

Did you try to troubleshoot using the ISTA+ guide? Here's one from J0K3R5's mega repo:

Did you click on the wrench? Do that then select Vehicle Interface. Make it Ediabas if its via K+DCAN cable (or ICOM/ENET or Ethernet preferred w/ICOM if that's your situation - unlikely you bought the $300 device)

I wish I saw your post earlier I found the problem before I saw your post, I was playing with it for 30 min and I remember reading the ICOM cable is for higher level programming and I switched it to Ediabas and it works.

I would have found the problem earlier but I couldn't get the screen to maximize and the solution is to click on the grey next to ISTA, I did not see a maximize screen, that was so frustrating.

Thanks all, appreciated now its time to learn it.

Double click on the top bar (I know, there is no indication) in a place without icons and it makes it go full-screen.

And I'm gonna post this right here. Now I don't doubt Tom's Hardware might have some influence from vendors, but interesting. Best one is the Russian spy. And honestly, I'm not here to fight about it, just thought the timing was funny
