So far my dealings with Passport - Jim Redden has been great. The car is ordered - no hiccups so far. If anything changes I'll let you know.
BTW, Bel Air BMW never returned my phone calls or emails. WTF?

Hello from Frederick
Hi,
I'm glad I found this place. I spent last night reading ALL the threads and posts back to September. I am going to buy a 330xi with 5 options: Automatic Leather Sports Package Heated Seats Metalic Paint I am talking with Passport, Fairfax and Sterling (closest to me). I might check with VOB too. So far Fairfax is the lowest, but I have to go back for the second round and then I will make my decision. I just wanted to say hi and thank you all for this tread. Any advise would be appreciated on my options. I was told that there is only 1 330xi with the Sports Package in ALL of America. I'm wondering why this would not be more popular? I like the wheels, steering wheel and support seats. |

Good choices. You have to get the Comfort Access too. It's a no brainer for $500 and will make your life much easier. It seems like an insignificant option but once you have it - you'll know eaxactly why. It's not that xi's aren't popular but when you are talking about a 330xi - you're getting up into the mid 40's price range and infringing on the 5 series price point. There's a special demographic for the 330xi with sports package so you'll likely have to order. Plus I bet they sell fast too. Good luck! |

I 2nd the comfort access. Also, I really love the bluetooth connectivity with my car, really makes driving safer. I bought mine on Saturday from Sterling. I was negotiating with them and Passport. I initially went to Sterling, the sales only went down $100 from MSRP, so I emailed Passport, and they immediately emailed me back something like $1500 below msrp. I was going to call the guy at Sterling that I was buying from Passport, and the guy was willing to match Passport's offer. So, in the end I went with Sterling, because he was a referral from a coworker, plus I figured it would be more convenient when I needed to get service. After I signed papers, Passport came back to me and said they would win my business with price if they needed to. However, at that point, I had already given Sterling my commitment and I would not go back on that. So, the only question left in my head now, is that did I make the right decision, I hope Sterling's Service Dept is as good as promised!

(kobechrome, the key rings still aren't in yet.) I also want to thank kobechrome for his help and telling me about Jim. It was a 78 mile ride, but worth it. The best experience that I've had in buying a car. Knowing the price before going down takes out all the hassle ($500 over invoice). Now I just can't wait 'til the end of March (my birthday is March 29). Oh yeah, I only got thre test car up to 100 on 495.

just noticed this thread so I am going to chime in as well...
Upon kobechrome's referral (and pretty much all the good reviews here and bimmerfest.com) went with Passport BMW (Marlow Heights) and Jim Redden. Didn't even bother calling up other dealers in the DC Metro area...finalized everything on the phone in 5 minutes for invoice+$500+$100 Processing+TTL. At the time of this post, I have not stepped foot in any dealership in the area). He got me straight onto a 112 status (which went into production a few days later). Jim had been patient and cordial with my (many) questions and spec changes. Next step, gonna try to leverage out more freebies

I thought I would just put a short post in here about my experience with Passport. I live about 2 miles from Bel Air BMW - a brand new dealership - and thought I would buy there. I don't know whether they didn't have their email set up or what but several emails went unanswered. I decided to visit their Towson dealership but got there at about 5.55PM on a Saturday and could not get a test drive.
Through posts on this forum I dispatched an email to Jim Redden at Passport. Within 2-3 emails, we had a deal and I fired off a deposit check. My car stickered out at $43900. I was able to get it at 1200 over including all the fees. We nailed the buy rate on the lease and the $625 acquisition fee. In the 7 weeks from ordering to delivery, Jim kept me up to date with emails. This AM I went to pick it up with my wife (her car). We spent about 90 mins at the dealership, most of that being the comprehensive walk-trhough by Jim. Signed ze papers and drove away. Jim threw in a set of floor mats, two BMW key rings, a set of BMW valve stem caps. All in all a very easy process. Highly recommended. My only regret is I can't take it there for service (140 mile round trip). If you live in the MD/DC/VA area, give Jim a call.

Jim is by far the best SA I have ever worked with at any dealership. If you live in DC Metro it would be a HUGE mistake not to check with him first.

Just got a response back from a CA at Fairfax bmw accepting my emailed offer of $750 over invoice. We'll see how that changes when I go down there to place the order.
