FWIW, I thought the only reason to use adjustable end links on an E9x chassis is if corner balancing leaves the two ends of the ARB needing slightly different end link length to connect to the chassis point(s). And if they're not used then the ARB end up preloaded so in a sense they're used to eliminate preload but not just because of lowering. Maybe that's how the generalization came to be? Or am I out in the weeds again?

No you're pretty much dead on. Like I was saying earlier, and Hack too, if you want to optimally align your links to the bars after lowering, they can be used for that (getting the angle between the bar end and the link to 90 deg when loaded).

Otherwise, on the e9x platform, after lowering, unless you've added adjustable bars and other non-standard stuff AND you are seeing interference, really no need for adjustable links.

Cool, thanks. After corner balancing the adjustable links were needed front and rear on my car although I didn't think it'd be that big a deal since the balance adjustments were all that much. I guess that and getting the angle optimized made them worth it though.
