Can it be due to the aux cable type that comes with the unit? For example, what if we changed it to a gold plated aux cable?

EXPLANATION
the 22/11/2017 version is NOT STABLE even if it's beautiful because it's ID6 is not recommended !! The October version is currently the most stable !! Disassemble the November and reinstall October. Tommy will send us a new version as soon as it is available, so any comment or rating with the November version is superfluous because it has several bugs that need to be fixed! Do not continue to deal with problems on a version that has already given several problems since the beginning but be patient for the new version |

The audio quality DOES NOT depend on the firmware version but on the hardware
The GEN1 version has a bad quality because the hardware no has the physical connection between the processor and the processor audio then those who have the GEN1 must resign there is no possibility to improve the audio, while the GEN 2 has undergone changes in hardware and indeed has much better audio. The various versions of idrive BMW can make the difference on the audio but GEN2 has better quality |

Lack of Brightness on iDrive, not Android screen
My iDrive screen is too dim to see during the day. Android screen is fine. The iDrive brightness control is fixed at 5 (50%) and can neither be increased nor decreased.
Has anyone had this issue and is there a fix? |

Because when you're using the BMW Bluetooth unit you are bypassing the Avin unit for the sound and only using it as a display for CarPlay/Android Auto.

Thanks but do you have Gen1 or 2? Actually I don't have Enhanced Bluetooth in my car, so do you think if I got Bluetooth audio receiver will make the sound any better than the Avin AUX?

Unless they can somehow fix the audio outputted from the Avin unit I think we are stuck with the bad audio. |

I wanted to understand one thing: at the moment, while I use Android auto, I have to swich to Aux bmw so I can listen to the Android audio, so if I connect the Aux cable from the display to the armrest, would the situation improve?

All audio works via the BMW Aux, mine intermittently automatically switch to this its a bit hit and miss it seems it depends on the screen you go to do when I goto CarPlay it will default to the last device I used where as if I play a Video via the Avin unit it will switch the BMW to use Aux, tbh I dont want them to fix this as currently, I use the BMW Bluetooth rather than Aux so having it automatically switch will mean I have to switch back to bluetooth every time it starts.

It must be the aux connection that gives people bad sound quality.
My car does not have the green optical cable, and i dont have to connect the aux in the armrest to get sound. And the sound quality is very good and just as it is with the original IDrive. I use high quality mp3 files on USB and Spotify with extreme quality downloaded to the unit. Very satisfied with the quality Sound trough AUX and Blutooth is not usable imo anyway. |

Sharing my experience:
Device: my device is also from China, although it came from an European importer and not from AVIN USA. Specifications: • Operating voltage: 12 V (10.8-16V) • Maximum current consumption : 15 A • Operating temperature range: -10ºC-60ºC • 10,25 “ screen • Company: Shenzhen Kinylywin Electronics Co., Ltd Hardware: • Processor: MTK8127 • Frequency: Quad Core Cortex A7, Frequency 1.3 GHz • RAM: 1GB DDR3 • ROM : 16 GB Nand Flash • Screen resolution: 1024*600 LVDS high definition LCD • Network communication: supports GPS, BT, WiFi • Multimedia: supports GPS, BT, WiFi Software: • Operating System; Android 4.4.4 • Device Model: rkpx3 • Kernel version: 3.0.36+ zxw@zxw-ubuntu #389 Mon Dec 19 16:58:22 CST 2016 • Compilation number: rkpx3-eng 4.4.4 KTU84Q eng.zxw.20161219.165857 test-keys • MCUVer: 0120aJLY-NBT-HW1-170809 [BMW-0505J-170804C] • APPVer: 20170823-Ver1.0.0.0001_foreign_A For me, the main problem is the poor GPS, it takes about three minutes to fix the position, so I began to address this problem. A cleared AGPS data, no luck. I read that some of these Chinese devices have a file gps.conf that “looks” first for Chinese ntp servers and it would be a good idea to update that file for another version with other time servers, in my case, europe.pool.ntp.org. I rooted the unit with Kingoroot (very easy, it worked at first try) but there was no gps.conf file in the system/etc (only another gps file that only had the 9600 baud rate). After rooting it became extremely slow and with a strange behaviour (it was always asking for su access), so I removed the rooting (also very easy, one click) and here I am with a good device and a very slow GPS. As the guy who installed the unit in my F32, put the GPS receiver inside the passenger A-pilar, I removed it from there and put it over the dashboard and it seems to be a little better. Any idea on the software side to improve this? If not, I think the next step will be to buy a Adafruit GPS Antenna - External Active Antenna - 3-5V 28dB 5 Meter SMA [ADA960] to see if it improves (I think – I hope - it works with this device). |
