i got a 09 E92 335xi coupe, wanted to get H&R sports spring, and I suppose it will fit the XI from the first page of thread, but my question is, would the driving quality improved? or ? any thoughts on first hand experience owners?

Wouldn't the addition of the rear lower camber kit also mean a change in rear shocks as well? I don't think this is compatible with my rear KW V3s. Everything else wouldwork just fine I do believe.

Does anyone know if I can use the BMW Performance/ZSP springs with the stock shocks?
I checked with my insurance today and one of the things that is not allowed is lowering the car, so if there is a way for me to get it lowered using BMW parts. |

Good news! AST 4100 coilovers are available via custom order through HP Autowerks for xi and x-drive vehicles!
I pulled the trigger on the AST 4100's for my 2011 BMW 335i x-drive sedan today. It is a custom order and takes 4 - 6 weeks but AST is building these by hand. I worked with Harold at HP Autowerks on this order. He is very knowledgeable on BMW suspensions and helped me build a custom setup. Once he gets the custom AST 4100's he is going to match them with custom swift springs. Harold thought I should go with 336lbs springs in the front and 672lbs in the rear. The stock 335 has 145lbs front and 460lbs rear. He said I could go with 400lbs in the front and 784lbs in the rear but those are more for the guys who track there car. I was considering going with KW V1's or V3's but hear they squeak and have other problems. I was also considering the H&R coilovers but hear they have rusting problems. Here is a great review of the AST's on a non x-drive 335i: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...light=AST+4100 Link to AST Site: http://www.ast-usa.com/ast_testing_facilities.php Link to HP Autowerks: http://www.hpashop.com/main.sc;jsess...D.qscstrfrnt05 Thanks! here's a dinan suspension review
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=381791 anybody have any experience with the bmw performance springs on the xi? from the research i've done, the sport springs barely give the xi a drop so i'm thinking the performance springs will do a better job? |

Read this thread and a lot of others. Understand the options. What can be confusing is that a lot of options that were explored were a couple years back before some of the new stuff came out. For example, seems like the AST coilovers are new on the scene. Reading complaints about coilovers being noisy - assume that's the Koni's.
If you had a stock suspension, non-Sport Pkg 4 dr xi what would you do now if you were starting from scratch? As you all know the stock suspension is plush perfect for the interstate but wallows way too much to consider driving the Dragon before fixing it. I am not lookin to spend more or less than to make it work like the sport sedan I am looking to keep for 5 or more years. Assume you would drive the car daily but aggressively on on/off ramp and have fun on every twistie road you can find. Drive through the Blue Ridge and Tail of the Dragon and a couple autocrosses a year. Own a 1098 Ducati and ride it the same way. Use the Duck for the track, probably not the BMW other than the aforementioned autocrosses. |

Could anyone tell me if the Bilstein B8s are stainless steel? I live in an area that gets plenty of snow and along with that salt. So I am worried about corrosion.

ZSP Springs from a 328i Touring with Steptronic
If anyone else needs part number for ZSP Sport Springs for a non-X Drive touring wagon here they are. These are for ones equipped with the Steptronic.
Fronts 31336767377 Rears 33536773598 These are for those looking to upgrade their Xi Wagon and get rid of the that 4x4 look but want to stay OEM and need the extra heft to deal with the extra weight in the rear of the wagon. |
