Alternatives to Carly
Have been using the carly app for the last couple of years with no issues.
However they have recently made me upgrade to a newer version and to do any coding a £58 per year subscription fee is required... Anyone know any better alternatives for Android? |

I used to be able to use the older version but it no longer lets me use this... and says this version is no longer supported.
Im not sure it keeps prompting to upgrade if i try to connect. Im not sure about the coolant bleed procedure thing, sorry |

With Carley, if you bought it before the subscription started you just have to download the new version then go into the options and do the migrate to new app option. If it comes up with a message (like it did with me) that you cant migrate, just send an email to Carley explaining that it won't let you migrate and they will then manually add your email address to the migration database. You will then be able to do the migration.

It's not the adapter you need to have bought before the cut off date, it's the app. If you didn't buy the app before a certain date you will not qualify for the free migration for full access.

In fact I may just give Carly a go now I have 2 BM's to see if that is any better. (On the 335D - I found the section to force a ReGen - but I have now lost it again - I have a recorded fault in one glow plug, (not that it is noticeable when driving/starting the car), and apparently the ECU will not instruct a normal ReGen if there is a "faulty" glow plug) Last edited by Bluewater335D; 08-27-2019 at 09:04 AM.. |

Are you still having the slow crank issue? I've heard a worn earth strap can cause the slow crank issue and charging issue. If your not sure of alternator or battery issue you ideally need a multimeter to check the voltage coming directly out the alternator and if that's pumping out 14 to 14.3v with engine running that's good, then you need to see if the battery reads the same. With the engine off the battery will be between 12v to 12.7v (around that) with 12.6v ish being 90%+ charged 12.3v around 40/50% etc.
