I have the same issue. White smoke pours out at idle. It is weird because it only does it sometimes. It also comes from under the hood....like it's pretty bad. Ill take a video next time it happens. I don't know if this will help but, i have Dp's cat-back CAI, BOV, 7" FMIC, AND JB4. Running 93 octane with NO methanol additives from fuel pump. Using Lucas high performance oil (Not synthetic). No boost pressure leaks and no loss of antifreeze or oil. Please don't tell me my turbo is going out or gasket ect. just let me know it's burning out the toxins of the new dp and cat-back install.

Looks like condensation to me, but it's hard to tell. Usually you have to smell the exhaust to see what it is when it is that thick. One thing I will say is that the stock mufflers can hold a ton of water. When I was trying different exhausts I cut off my mufflers, and I couldn't believe how much water poured out of them when I stood them up on the tips.

Also, don't freak out every time you see white smoke, sometimes oil can blow into the exhaust and cause it to smoke. Usually when it does the smoking lasts a lot longer as it takes a lot more time to burn off oil in the exhaust. I would only begin to be concerned if you see it very frequently.

This is only recent too. I had it to the dealer and they said they could not find any leaks, and I did replicate the issue for the head tech at the shop. I also notice that I have been getting ALOT of black soot and some carbon deposits/soot on my rear bumper lately too after this has happened. I know because the buildup is much greater then before in the tail pipes (this from someones pipes who are normally chrome, never black from soot) and I have never had the soot deposits on the bumper.

This is BMW PE on the car and nothing is different in the car in the last few months, the exhaust has over 10k miles on it and 1.5 years old.

I have a similar issue...DOES NOT SMOKE WHILE IN BOOST OR UNDER LOAD.

Only smokes when I am coming to a stop. My car is an auto and if I put it in neutral while coming to a stop, it almost gets rid of all the smoke. It also happens more when the oil is topped of...once my indicator shows a hair under FULL, it smokes less too.

I feel like it is sort of a crankcase pressure problem... Or somehting having o do with the vacuum that occurs when decelerating. Sort of like it sucks a bit of oil out of the crankcase and spits it into the hot exhaust pipes. I wish I could find a solution...it's a bit embarrassing.

I have had turbo cars with bad oil seals, and ones that the oil didn't drain fast enough...etc. It doesn't act like that, boost is good too.

BMS Oil catch can problem solved.. I had the same issues comming to a dead stop after wot runs or a few sprints

I have the same recently, it started after I have had used to thin oil by accident. During the period that I had that wrong oil (ow30 BMW LL4) I lost a lot of oil and water through my exhaust. (Leaking oil out of my turbo seals is my assumption) After replacing it with the proper oil, the oil fumes stopped immediately but the water fumes not.

I think it might have build up water in my exhaust dampers which get's pushed out while braking and then vaporized. I'm not losing any oil and power is spot on. Also replaced my valve gasket recently.

I notice that in my case it only happens when i'm for example perform stop and start movement on a highway ramp... it seems to be affected by the horizontal position / angel of the engine...

I have had similar smoke problems as listed above. I had DP's and AE exhaust. Got to take a look at the turbos at my buddies shop and fixed only the smoke coming out of the hood. Basically one seal on the DP connecting the turbo was toasted (he said he never saw one that bad). The alignment was a smidge off on the DP causing an exhaust leak and smoke coming out. Replaced both DP seals. But the problem persisted and still only out of the drivers side exhaust.
I went back to stock but left exhaust on and it's now waiting at the dealership.
Will update with what they do.

Edit: With stock DP's no smoke.

I'm getting the same kinda thing here. Had head gasket replaced about 1,000miles ago and I'm getting that coolant hose burnt smell from under the hood. It is a kinda strong smell after a while of driving. Is this normal after replacing the head gasket? Could there be coolant that got in then engine?

Sorry OP if i am jacking your thread but i kinda of have a same issue.. with the white smoke. Mine is under different circumstances though. My car has been put away for the past 2 months for winter storage since it is only summer driven but over the holidays i got a JB4, ER charge pipe, BMS DCI, and VRSF Downpipes. i installed everything other than the downpipes, put on map 1, started the car and let it warm up for 5 minutes before i revved it. i got the 2 step relay for the JB4 so i wanted to test it out to make sure the install was correct. after revving the engine a couple times i noticed a bit of white smoke building up. i let the car cool down for a few minutes and then shut it off. when i walked around there was oil that was shot out of the exhaust. I know this happens for some vehicles that aren't driven over the winter, but is this something i should be concerned about? car has 60 000 kms on it

Man I'm in the same boat as you guys. My clouds of white smoke are huge and stick around for a bit. Doesn't really have a smell to it. But like everyone else said it's eembarrassing. I hear a OCC fixes it. Wanna k kw if that cured anyone elses

OCC and depending on your mileage, think about the seals in the turbos. Those are known to leak after time. Looking to replace my turbos to Vargas Stage 2 to help solve that issue. I'm fully catless, so some smoke and rich exhaust due to the shitty fuel we have up here is also a cause.

You can smell it if you are running rich.
