No, not quite. The only inherent limitation is with INPA.

In order to preserve English language localization to the greatest extent possible, this DIY utilizes the last English INPA scripts that the BMW Group released with INPA 5.0.2. INPA 5.0.2 did not include a script for the MEVD17.2 DME. That aside, all other functionality works as expected.

There are later German language INPA scripts available for that DME. I will PM you details.

This guide is great, I am giving it a try now after I get the slow chinese download done. I havent had luck with other tutorials although I am very familiar with the windows environment... I hope this works.

When I go to identifcation in INPA I get IFH-0009: No response from controlunit

When trying to code injectors I get Error #100 SYS-0010: INITIALIZATION ERROR API job error or no such result

These are the same errors I got with the other installations I tried... I'm starting to think my cable is not working but the clamps work???

Hi Scott, it sounds like either the cable is faulty or you have a K-Line cable instead of a K+DCAN cable. Where did you purchase your cable from?

I ordered it from an ebay seller: autogadgets2015 it has a green circuit board and says K+DCAN. I have placed an order for the one stop electronics cable which is known to work. Hopefully its just a bad cable and my installation is fine?

Most likely. The one-stop-electronics.com cable will definately work properly. Once you receive your new cable, please report back.

I can confirm that no keyboard is needed for Win 10. Touch screen works perfectly.

Exclamation DIY updated

A few updates...

Post #2 is now a BMW Standard Tools 2.12 FAQ:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...48&postcount=2

I will continuously update the FAQ over time.

Errata:
  • Added screenshots of the LADEN.BAT script execution in order to better illustrate the benign errors that will be displayed.
  • Added screenshots and steps to register the EDIABAS Windows ActiveX controls MSFLXGRD.OCX and RICHTX32.OCX. If this step is omitted, Tool32 will display a run time error 339 and fail to start.
  • Added an additional step to create the INFO.ENG file in order to avoid a nuisance error in WinKFP:
Code:
cd C:\EC-APPS\NFS\DATA\GDATEN
copy INFO.GER INFO.ENG /v

Thanks for the info. In your post about identifying which daten you have, how do would I know it's v51? I do not see 51 anywhere in the data posted.

You're welcome. You can easily tell which integration level your SP Daten supports, that's what I covered in the FAQ. However, determining which SP Daten you have is not as straightforward. To the best of my knowledge, none of the files in the SP Daten state which ISTA/P version they're from.

You can get a rough idea by reviewing an ISTA/P version and I-level overview chart to determine which ISTA/P version(s) align with the integration level of your SP Daten. The chart for ISTA/P P3.57.4 is attached.

For example, if your SP Daten supports integration level "E89X-14-11-501" then you know it's SP Daten 54.3. However, if it supports integration level "E89X-15-03-500", it could be SP Daten 55.0, 55.1, or 55.2. In that case, there really isn't any way that I know of to easily narrow it down further.

Beginning with the F-Series, BMW replaced the former KMM database with the CIS database. From the best that I can ascertain, unlike the KMM data, the CIS data is not contained within the SP Daten. Otherwise in the example above, we could have at least been able to distinguish between 55.0 and 55.1 by determining the F01 supported integration level.

Thank you. Great explanation. I coded my car a couple of years ago. In one day, I have learned more from your thread than over the last two years! lol.

Hey guys!

I am a new member, I am from Bosnia so my English isn't very good.

808AWD325xi
I have come to the point where you suggest to reinstall Windows.

When I choose to reset windows in recovery tab it offers me two options:
1. Keep my files - Removes apps and settings, but keeps your personal files
2. Remove everything - Removes all of your personal files, apps, and settings.

What should I choose?

Thank you!

Assuming that you have saved the INPA CFGDAT and SGDAT folders to a USB thumb drive, I would choose #2., remove everything.

This has got to be the best DIY I have ever come across in my life. Not only was the DIY very comprehensive, but the OP was extremely helpful through PM. I was able to download and install despite being a total noob + hitting every obstacle along the way!

Thank you so much. Someone in OR get this man a beer!
