Glow Plug Cell, No Start, Wipers ON, Clear!

Just thought I'd post this for the google searchers out there.

First off the thread I found about changing glow plug module-

https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...ight=glow+plug

Now my situation
2011 335D 88K miles...all stock, all good since I bought a year ago.

Yesterday while driving "check engine light" comes on. I get home throw on my cheap OBDII scanner and get CEL code P066B. Generic but my search tells me something about glow plug #1 or the module. Try to clear; no dice...

I order the module (easier to replace- see link above) In the meantime, while waiting for part, I decide to try and see how easy it will be to disconnect the module.

After messing with trying to get the large connector off for about an hour, and not being able to, I decide forget it, I'll deal with it when the new part comes in.

A couple hours later I have to go somewhere and go to start the car and it turns over but doesn't start, and then just clicks. Wipers come on, slowly moving, and wont shut off. Dash is doing crazy stuff. WTH?

I make sure I didn't bump anything under the hood... all OK, and decide to put the the battery on a trickle charger. (it's drained...possibly from overhead light being on, but I never turned it on that I remember)

Battery charges, car fires right up. Check engine light clears on it's own...

Don't need help just posting info for anyone who may run into similar situation.

When the wipers went on all by themselves and wouldn't shut off, I panicked a little.

Well just to add, next day battery dead again. Replaced with a new one. Seems a strange coincidence that I'd get the glow plug cel and have battery die the next day, but whatever. Now I guess I have to do battery registration nonsense..

Well just for the lurker out there. I replaced the glow Plug module. Major pain in the arse getting the large connector off. Hardest part of the job for sure.

Started up still had code P066B and a new one P20EE- great! But after a short drive they both cleared.
