Yep, just give them the PuMA # and if nothing else it will give them a great starting point to fixing the problem - if the dealer does not want to work with you and there is another one close by I would suggest switching dealerships.

Unsure if this will be covered for free on a vehicle that is out of warranty - I don't know if an SIB works like a "recall" but my guess is that you'll have to pay for any repairs yourself.

If you find the SIB, which I see it has now been removed from that site, but at the end of the SIB it will have "Warranty Information" and will say covered under BMW new vehicle warranty, maintenance ,or CPO vehicle. I don't think this SIB was covered for out of warranty vehicles.

Covered under the terms of the BMW new vehicle limited warranty or the BMW maintenance program.

I called and told them the puma code..they said they couldn't look that up? They told me to wait until the BMW rep comes in so he can get in the car and hear it, I just hope it squeals like hell when he's in it

^ Thats BS - any SA has access to PuMA so they could definitely reference that to help you out. Make sure the car is nice and warmed up when the rep rides in it to ensure they hear the squeaking. If they continue to be a road block then take your car somewhere else. Good luck.

based on your posts it sounds like the dealership has offered to help and get BMW involved since they haven't duplicated your concern........... What good does trashing them do you, or what are you going to do when the dealer or BMW sees you trashing them on the internet when they're offering to help you?

Try giving them that SIB# I posted in the first few post, that should solve your problem with the dealer.

Well according to most dealers and SA everything on the internet and BMW forums is a lie and can't believe what we read, plus it won't matter what we say about dealers we're customers.

What does the SIB# stand for?

to mcoupe: If they are trying to help me, they arent putting much effort. I am just saying that the service advisors arent doing the best job. That is just my opinion. You wouldnt know them, not like you go to the BMW dealership in des moines. Another time they told me that they will call me when the BMW rep arrived so that he could look at my wheels and discuss whether they would repair my wheels, guess what..they never called me

that is where you are wrong as I am one of the service advisors that you are refering to. I will let you know when our FSE will be here as soon as I know.

Feel free to give me a call if you have any further questions.

BTW, SIB stands for service information bulletin, it is basically a guide for diagnosing common issues for the technicians, amoung other things.

the squeek is gonna be there cause of the sensors rubbing in to the rotors
^ I went to westbury BMW and they happliy did the service .

also said if out of any warranty wont be covered < squeek comes back
best situation til a permanent one is to just replace pads and sensors.
or rotor is conditions apply. < This all happened last year in oct.

did my oil change and the rear brakes two days after warranty expired !

I was happy they honored it .

I hope that SIB works for someone on a permanent basis, because it hasn't worked for me for the long term. Within 10K miles it will come back. So unless someone is up to changing brakes and/or sensors every 10K, this particular issue seems to be a "characteristic" of the E9X.

Imma try and pull my sensor out and tie it up, thinking of doin it to my fronts too since the computer counts down the miles.

just dropped my car off for two "working as designed problems"

22k oil change indicator... "sir its condition based."

and squeel from brakes after brake pedal is no longer depressed.
" we cant change the brakes till they meet certain wear requirements"

im not asking you to replace the brakes asking you to stop the Fn squeeling from the wheels ????

got a feeling this time I'm going to have to contact bmwna

Well the car is back guys....

reprogramming fixed the oil change problem (like many times before)
dropped from 19k to 8k... and yet the SA is like "its condition based... see you in 19k miles"

however they didnt even care about the puma case and the SIB didnt check out. the SA said they wont replace my brakes... told them IDC about the brakes i just want the squeeling stopped. No work was done on the brakes however the squeeling has ceased for now... it'll be back in a few months at which point I'll bring it to another dealer.

I knew of these problems prior to buying the bmw and accepted them. my warranty expires in 2015 so if the car holds up i'll have it past that... if not my next wont be another bmw.... lol lets see what hyundai has out then !
