My front bar made a big difference.

But is it "needed"? No

28mm, I believe.....been a while since I installed, so can't recall the details. But I love it. Body roll and turn-in much improved.

Thanks Jay. Does the bar affect ride comfort in any noticeable ways? Are you still using the OEM end links?

After 8 years of owning my car, and countless dollars spent on mods, the M3 front sway bar, which i picked up on ebay for $110 with the bushings and brackets, has been one of the top 5 greatest mods I've ever done. Handling is much better, and comfort and NVH is not effected at all.

I find it interesting that you initially responded to the OPs question with "No" but seemingly have zero experience with the mod in question

OP asked if he really needs a sway bar upgrade. I've been without an upgrade and been doing fine using the car as a DD, so my answer is no. An upgrade would be nice, but it's definitely not really needed.

The word needed is subjective.

Do you even need a car ?

In the past, I have found that *some* swaybars will have a noticeable impact on comfort. As in, if you go to a pretty extreme bar it will have some negative consequences with regard to bump absorption.

Stock M3 bar is likely a very safe upgrade, wrt to comfort. Something I should probably get off my butt and do...

Thanks. You're obviously happy with the balance.

My car was non sport so no rear sway also. I've got a 13mm rear bar to be fitted when I get the motivation to try it again. First attempt failed - the bracket holes were gunked up and I didn't have a tap.

Probably don't need it but it will enhance your driving experience IMO.

I have eibach front sway only and it improved handling noticeably.

Does make the steering a tad heavier but besides that drivability is perfectly fine.

I'm waiting to get and install my kit from H&R (27mm front & 20mm rear). Will let you know soon hehe. The reason I opt for this upgrade is that I occasionally track my car and I don't like the "swing" from left to right cornering which is bit soft even with harder suspension for me (and mess up the car weight transfer/balance).

Eventually if this is still not enough probably I'll go for M3 control arms kit as well. And if not satisfying again I'll have to change my ST XT (KW V2) suspension to either KW Clubsport or Intrax.

Or at least that is the plan

Open to suggestions as always

yup, and I had it on the track 2 weeks ago. Although I'm not a great driver (yet!), nothing felt out of balance to me. If it was easy to put the rear sway bar in I'd definitely do it, however, it's just too much work for me to justify

Keep your rear bar stock and a large front bar. Preferably make both adjustable. Front you can buy that way, rear stock just weld on a tab with multiple mounting holes to make it adjustable.

At least that is what Barry@3DMotorsports says.
