This has been discussed several times. If you search you should be able to find more info, but I'll explain what I know.

LCI has a 8mm overall wider track than the Pre LCI, so we can't fit as aggressive fitments. I run 18x8.5" et35 with 235/40/18 in the front and 18x9.5" et40 with 265/35/18. I'm lowered on HR cup kit and I don't rub at all. I can probably do 5mm all around and still maybe not rub, possibly even a 10mm in the front. I'm eventually going to run probably 10mm all around and roll the rears bc at essentially et30 on 9.5" rim in the rear, LCI will rub. Keep in mind there are a lot of variables though such as suspension and how much camber you will run. Best to play it safe with the offset and then add a small spacer if you want it more aggressive.

FWIW, I'm pretty confident I could fit a 265 in the front. (LCI and Pre LCI are the same in the front). My 255 doesn't rub at all and I've used it both with and without a 15mm spacer on my 18x8.5et38 and it doesn't rub in either configuration. Thus, an extra 5mm on each side due to the 265 with a 10mm spacer would theoretically fit.

Edit: I also have the camber pins removed so I have like -1.2 deg camber in the front.

Edit 2: Allegedly there was a guy who fit NT05 275/40/17 square but never posted pics..

If you want to just play it safe with no use of spacers, I would stick to 8.5 et 30-35 front, 9.5 et 35 rear. You can run 235/265 tires, possibly even wider. Yes you can possibly run bigger, more aggressive setup ups, but it sounds like you just want something that works without needing to roll or use spacers in the case that you have to.

If I wasn't AWD, I would have 295's on the rear. I have seen 305's with a strong fender roll (slight stretch). The wheel offset is everything on a good fitment.

245/40-18 x 9 et 31
285/35-18 x 10 et 43

I don't use spacers and I only experienced a slight rub under hard driving. So a slight fender roll fixed that. If you can get an offset of et 45 you would not need a fender foll. The offset is everything on fitment.

Plenty of room. I did drop my profile size on my last set of tires, so I am now running:

245/35-18 x 9 et 31
285/30-18 x 10 et 43

I agree with you on the 19's. I went with 18's 4 years ago since I wanted some sidewall for handling. But I didn't really think about the wider tire making my sidewalls taller (brain fart). I would run 19's if I needed new rims.

I run 255/35/18 on 18x9 et35 in front and 275/35/18 on 18x10 et40 in back. I'm lowered 1/2" from sport suspension height. No rubbing but I did roll all 4 fenders, installed camber plates and am running -2 camber all around just in case. Not sure all that was necessary though.

We have specific offsets produced in our EC-7 wheel design designated for e90 LCI owners so that you do not have to sacrifice tire sizing for proper fitment. You could run either of the following without any spacers or fender rolling:

Option 1
Front: 18x8.5" ET35 profile 1 face - 235/40-18
Rear: 18x9.5" ET43 profile 2 face - 265/35-18

Option 2
Front: 18x9" ET31 profile 2 face - 235/40-18
Rear: 18x10" ET43 profile 2 face - 265/35-18

Here is a link to the 18" EC-7 wheels where you can select the specifications I have listed.

275/35-18 can work in the rear, but it depends on the brand of tire and how low the car is. It has the possibility to slightly rub under load, therefore you may need to roll the rear fenders. In many cases, 275 rear tires are a direct fit with no modifications required.

Up front, 275/35-18 tires will not work unless you have adjustable camber plates and are willing to dial in a ton of negative camber (more then -3 degrees). That much tire up front really only makes sense on a purpose build track car.

I have had the EC-7 wheels (option 2) for 4 years now and love them. I have also been running the 285's PSS in the rear and only rolled my fenders since I had slight rubbing under load. The 275's should be fine, but remember that Ryan will stay on the conservative side.

This show how the following looks:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1249671

Option 2 pictured with taller profile
Front: 18x9" ET31 profile 2 face - 245/40-18 - and now 245/35-18
Rear: 18x10" ET43 profile 2 face - 285/35-18 - and now 285/30-18

Correct, I just have to mention that there is a possibility of rubbing with 275's to cover our bases As long as the right wheel offsets are used, and the car isn't slammed, they clear the rears just fine.

I have a 2009 328i lci, can I fit 18" 285 on the back? what is the max width for 18" in the front too? I don't want to roll or cut fenders and don't want to rub. stock ride height, no sport suspension.

Joe,

We generally would recommend the following fitment for your 328i LCI:

Front: 18x9" ET30 or ET31 with 245/40-18 tires
Rear: 18x10" ET33 with 275/35-18 tires
  • Popular fitment
  • 255/35-18 front tires can also be used as a direct fit.
  • If using ARC-8 design, 18x9.5" ET35 rear wheels may be used.
  • 5mm front spacers may be required with certain aftermarket suspensions, see below.
  • Rolled rear fenders may be required to prevent rubbing depending on ride height.
  • LCI sedan and wagon will require rolled rear fenders and/or negative camber to prevent rubbing. 265/35-18 rear tires will also help to reduce the likelihood of rubbing.

Keep in mind that this is the most aggressive fitment we would recommend for the E90 3 series and will require fender rolling and/or negative camber to aid in clearance. If the motor on your car is stock, I would recommend against running a tire this wide, as you will lose quite a bit of performance just attempting to rotate a wheel and tire this wide.

Personally, I would recommend the following for a 328i:

Front: 18x9" ET30 or ET31 with 235/40-18 tires
Rear: 18x9.5" ET35 with 265/35-18 tires
  • Direct fit.
  • Popular fitment
  • 245/40-18 front tires can be used.
  • 275/35-18 rear tires may require rolled fenders and/or negative camber depending on ride height.
  • LCI sedan and wagon may require rolled rear fenders and/or negative camber to prevent rubbing. 255/35-18 rear tires may be used as a direct fit.

This will 265mm rear tire will work quite well for the e90 and will provide a significant performance advantage over the OEM tire setup, without running a tire that is simply too wide. As noted above, you do run the risk of running a tire that is a bit too wide and this can have a negative impact on performance for the N52 engine in your 328i.

I hope this helps!
- Max
