2008 e93 Barbera Red, Cream interior, 12000 miles. My problems so far (besides the annoying features like iDrive, Bluetooth, RFT…)
1 – Top goes down smoothly into the trunk. But when I try to bring the top up (close) it does not come out of the trunk. It stays there. I have to get out of the car and lift it gently, then get back into car and push the button agagin. Then it works 2 – There is a very annoying rattle coming from the rear passenger side when top is up I made an appointment to be checked for May 4th 2009. I will post the results. |

My top is starting to rattle (more like a metallic pinging noise) directly above the drivers seat and the driver's side windows are making funny noises while up. Lease is almost up - it goes back in less than 2 months and I am replacing it with a 335 sedan. As much as I enjoy top down driving, I don't think I'd get an e93 again. The car has gotten way to heavy and there is quite a bit of body flex when the top is down.

I just noticed if I use the all windows up/down button, when I have the top down and raise the windows, the windows go up, but the passenger door window activates the antitrap feature and rolls it down again. Kind of annoying...

Look for my posts on this topic either in this thread (I think I posted about it here) or in the forum. Got mine fixed.

Anyway to fix rattling? My Cleo has 55k miles, and since the Montreal roads are quite bumpy with lots of potholes, I hear it a lot (especially when the music is off). Quite annoying

You know, I've started to notice more rattles as well. 13k miles
I'm taking her back in today for squealing brakes! They did fix a trim piece when the top goes down though...and something about the exhaust camshafts they replaced... |

My 2 cents' worth:
1. I understand that NA spec cars are slightly different because of safety (read fear of litigation) reasons. On Euro spec cars you can lock people in without them being able to get out using the unlock button. I'll check mine in more detail but what you're saying doesn't surprise me. That said, if you park your car with the windows up, anyone able to reach the unlock button from outside must have very long arms. 2. It says in my manual that with roof open, the movement sensor on the OEM alarm detects movement below the waistline, so if you reach in that should set the alarm off. 3. The question further up this thread about the driver window partially lowering when you open the door after having pressed the unlock button twice in quick succession: This was also on the E46 and is a feature that makes it easier to get into your car in a very tight space, e.g. if you're parked close to a wall or another car. It's easier to squeeze in without the curved window being in the way. Very useful in cramped London! I've only had my car for a week (bought it from BMW one year old with only 1700 miles on it). Noticed last night when closing the roof that it "stuttered" a couple of times - movement stopped three times very briefly then continued. It was as though it was trying to stablise wobbling as the roof was closing. I had kept the close button pressed throughout, and it's the first time it's done that. Is it because I was parked on a slight downhill slope? |

Sorry to resurrect, but did anyone find the solution to the dash unlock button unlocking the glovebox, armrest, AND doors (just pull the handle twice from inside) with the top down in e93? This drives me nuts, especially as a "safety feature". I'd like to see an official explanation how I can lock someone in the convertible WITH THE TOP DOWN???
Perhaps the behavior of the switch should change whether you have a top up or down? Does anyone know if the dash lock button can be disabled via coding? I never use it anyway... |

E92 320d...
When driving along at any speed the steering wheel does not turn smoothly. It turns like it is on notches all the way round. Makes it impossible to drive forward in a straight line and I cant turn precisely...only a notch at the time. So have to zig zag down the road. Car has not feel like it has no power steering at low speeds. But at 80mph it does. Think I have a servo rack |
