The most stock turbos I've seen is 140k. That's not the norm. Same goes for steering rack. Tend to go when car reaches >100k. To be honest I don't recall I did any maintenance except steering fluid flush one time in the past 10 or so years.

I know there’s tons of information on this from all the other great users of this form. I just wanted to share my experience as it seemed a little different than some of the other descriptions I had of the symptoms. In our case the car started great and sounded smooth until I got warm after about 30 seconds it would hardly run. I believe it caused the alternator to fail as well and so while I was in there I changed the alternator. I didn’t get the usual trouble codes. In my case I had just a 29f1 fuel pressure plausibility and 2d2e throttle angle manifold.

Make sure to disconnect the negative lead on the battery for this project. I replaced the fuel pressure sensor also since I was in there. Make sure you get the superseded part. I was fortunate to find one at the salvage… Even though the vehicle had 200,000 miles on it. 7616194-02 was the original (defective) part number.

In my case the replacement part is (13517616170) 7616194-03. Once I put it in an button everything up; it ran like a champ again. Be prepared the fuel pump screws are incredibly difficult to remove; but it’s doable just be patient.

You can save yourself a lotta money doing this yourself. I’d call it a 4/10 difficulty.

this happened to me recently, like last Thursday (01-31-19) recently. I was driving and all of a sudden the car lost power and wasnt running at full power also made a noise couldn't locate the noise I think it was the timing belt but im not good with cars so? any ways i turned the car off let it sit then cranked it back up and ran fine and still running fine as of (2-4-19) so any advice ?

I have an 08 335I. When replacing the low pressure sensor to the Bosch one. Do you need to change the fuel rail it bolts on to. Also do you need to program the car after upgrading the low pressure sensor to the Bosch one.

My car(2011 335i) is having long cranks on warm starts and has a rough idle. No check engine codes and when its cold it jerks when it switches gears. Is this the hpfp?

Could be. Do you have MHD so you can scan for shadow codes? I had long cranks, inconstant rpm's especially after putting the car in neutral it would bounce around and WOT it seemed to bog down pretty bad. I had a couple shadow codes also 2BDE and 2BF0. I'm N55 and replaced the HPFP and the fuel rail sensor and I am 3 months without any return of codes or issues and the car starts immediately even in the cold Wisconsin weather.

Our 2007 E93 first threw the SES 10 years ago. Limped to dealer. They recommended plugs and coils and 3500.00. Read about fuel pump issues and asked.
The service tech said they had started the plugs and coils. I told them to button back up. Paid the 189.00 service charge.
Asked about a fuel pump under the 10 year, 100,000 mile coverage, was 2 years and less than 20,000. Tech said they updated firmware on fuel pump and it was good.
After 3 years and 10,000 miles it did it again. Used a scanner to reset.ended up with an iCarsoft scanner and have rest SES about 3 times in the last 7 years. Code is always Fuel Pump Plausibility.
Threw SES today. Reset, but only has been maybe a year. Car has 50,000 now.
So it has shown SES about 5 times in 10 years. Is a HPFP in my future? I see Delphi and other brands. Is there a good replacement. 700.00 seems to be the price. Seems the OEM was a couple grand.

Go through fcpeuro. They are around 500 with a new throttle body gasket and intake manifold gaskets plus they have a lifetime warranty

You are right, cheaper for OEM than a Delphi.
The car has never had a long crank. Fires right off. Only check engine light and code for fuel pump.
It threw another light today. Cleared and was gone. Ran through with iCarsoft i910.Found a brake light switch code. Cleared it. Went back and the fuel pump plausibility code returned after clearing the brake light switch code.
Cleared the fuel pump again, and then restarted engine a couple times. No return. I feel something is failing, maybe not HPFP.

2007 335i - So of course, I just replaced the fuel pressure regulator (housing was cracked and leaking) and the battery, only to have my HPFP go out a week later. Car just died in the middle of the highway with no warnings and it won't restart. Code is P142E $0018Pd (not sure what that $-code is). SES light came on too. Could it be the controller or anything else, or is it 100% the HPFP?

Worst part is car won't even limp, it just died on the highway while driving in rush hour traffic. Super convenient, super safe! I would hope that everyone that has a failure reports it to the NHTSA here: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/

If we don't report these problems, they won't get dealt with. An extended warranty up to 120k is ridiculous for a 13 year old car with a problem that can cause you to suddenly lose all power without warning.
