Rft tyre valves
Looks like I have a leak from the valve on the drivers side rear.
Slow release of air - warning light every 150 miles or so (motorway miles) Seems to be a common problem, my questions are: Can this just have come loose and be tightened up by me? Do I have tpms sensors in the wheel? What are the costs (roughly) if valve needs replaced? Will the sensor need replaced? What's the likelyhood of this being covered by AUC warranty? Realoem with my vin Number doesn't show any sensor available Thanks 'V' |

Oh bugger!
Need it sorted really as I'm driving back down south tomorrow evening and don't want to have to stop for air every 100miles and I'm pretty sure that ain't gonna be good for the tyre |

Mine has metal valves and no sensors, I didn't think in any case that the e92's had sensors internally. Regardless the sensor should just bolt to the valve and the valve can be replaced seperately. I'd imagine it's far more likely that the tyre is leaking somewhere though and if I were you I'd get it checked rather than keep on just topping it up.

Yeah, had it checked that's why I know it's leaking from the valve.
Wheel has been off and had a full dunk in a water bath, only Bubbles came from the valve. I'll get it sorted tomorrow (hopefully!) |

Some e9x have this and the valves look exactly like that.I have seen aftermarket valves fitted that resemble these also,if you can access you're vehicles build info it should tell you if it has pressure sensors for sure.I have seen these valves removed from an m5 while tyre was off the rim and it's all one piece so you don't get the valve stem separately ,assuming it's the same type as affore mentioned.

I've read that sensors are used on the 5 and 6 series but not the 3. Also it seems that if they are used then the actual tyre pressures are available on the idrive.

I'm not saying it's not the case but I've never seen a valve where the sensor is integral, I'd think worst case is that it is removed and a rubber valve fitted and you lose your tpm. Perhaps have a look on a site like bmwminiparts and it should show you what's available. Good luck getting it sorted.

Is it leaking from around the valve stem or from the valve itself (inside the stem)? If the former, you could try (gently!) tightening with an appropriate socket on the hex section of the stem. Otherwise, it should be possible to tighten the valve in the stem, or even replace the valve, without removing the tyre from the bead.
