It's fine... Don't know why Windows Defender is stating it's a dangerous file. This software has been around for a very long time with no issues.

You will most likely need to exempt that folder/file until you can get it installed.

That's only if you're setting it up to use the software on the F series.

Has anyone else done this? In particular, anyone n the UK?

N55 on E84 INPA

This install went super smoothly. I really appreciate the explanation of what you are doing in each step.

I have a 2015 e84 (X1) with the N55 engine and I am really struggling to get INPA to work correctly. I installed the e89 daten (as e84 is in the e89 family). When I start up INPA there is no e84 option (expected). I tried both the e89 and the e83 option but there is no N55 engine option for either of these chassis in INPA.

I also tried the e90 because it has a N55 option, but I get an error message. This try was also a bit of a shot in the dark as I was at a loss for next steps. The error (after being passed through translate):

"Searched ECU 'MEVD17KW' not found. Found control unit 'MEVD176K'. You either have an outdated file ..\EDIABAS\ECU\T_GRTB.PRG, and / or the controller gives you a wrong variant and / or diagnostic index. the program is canceled."

I have both of these ipo files in the INPA\SGDAT folder.

Does anyone have insight as to what I'm missing to make this work?

Hello everybody. I've been reading over this thread yesterday and today as well as successfully installing the software . My cable is being delivered today, so I am really excited to try programming. I do have a question though, is there a process described anywhere how to program keyfobs using BMW standard tools or the NCS Expert?

You cannot program keys with this software, it requires specific key programming software that is not free.

Ok so I'm having an issue with the aux port. I have it showing up on the screen, and bought this cable. When nothing is plugged into the cable, I can select aux. If I have my phone plugged in and select the aux input, the radio freezes up, reboots several times, then comes back to radio. Has anyone experienced this before? Is it the cable or my programming?

this has nothing to do with setting up std tools.

this has nothing to do with setting up std tools.
Better start another thread maybe in the stereo sub
forum with details on which type of head unit you have
(idrvive or pro radio)and what options the car came with.
what programming did you do? Is this even a 3 series?
You handle says 650i

I am looking at the installation instructions and in step 14 it says to delete the EC-Apps folder. I currently also have esys installed on my laptop which I use for my F series. Will the installation of the standard tools from the OP affect my esys as it utilizes the EC-Apps folder? I am really only looking to get this for NCS Expert as I already have ISTA+ for diagnostics.

In that case, just delete the INPA and NFS folders. Then your current esys install won’t be affected.

version & language mismatch errors can be simply ignored. this is what I did and it worked fine. you don't have to worry about that.

You need the E89 DATEN, as it covers all of E9x.

Thank you, INPA wors perfectly for me.
But, I am trying to use the NCS-Expertentool to recode my battery and do not see "CNCoding" or "ExpertMode" profiles. All I have are "Factory Reset" and "Feature Coding" profiles. Did I install it wrong? Or, which profile should I load to recode the battery?

Factory Reset = ExpertMode (Default codes module based on VO)
Feature Coding = CNCoding (Codes module based on your changes)

Essentially the profile names are insignificant.
