Will an FFTEC turbo bolt up to our cars?

Does it need a different manifold? I want more power

From what I've heard the twin scrolls available don't have the correct exhaust side to couple with our manifold. Not sure if the FFTEC turbo is twin scroll but I think not going with one would be a step backward.

It won't work, the single turbo is tuned for the N54, not the N55....

If it was that simple, people wouldn't be complaining about how COBB doesn't make an N55 tune yet

this post makes no sense lol. He asked if it will bolt up, obviously you will need to tune it after. Cobb just started development

Well I guess Benzy doesn't think that we have the same tuning devices available to us as the n54 with big turbos.

Reality is that we do and at this point our limitation is the small turbo running out of breath. We also have the ability to custom tune ourselves so we are not dependent on Cobb to come out with their flash for big singles.

What I was looking to illustrate is that performance parts aren't interchangable between the N54 (which has the Vishnu/FFTEC Single Turbo upgrade & a COBB tune) and the N55 (which has neither of those products currently available).

I'm fully aware of the products available & that the turbo is what's killing the N55 right now. The N55 is on the same time line with upgrades as the N54: originally was just piggys, then COBB/GIAC introduced flashes & then turbo upgrades came along.

Ex: COBB is currently doing R&D for an N55 flash based tune & Vargas is looking into upgraded turbos for the N55 guys after he finishes releasing his 3 different turbo upgrades for the N54 (since the OEM snail is already out of breath).

IMO a stock N55 still has more to give, but it'll require changing VANOS timing, fueling tables & other variables that cannot be done with piggys. Time will tell.

I agree with you Benzy, except that the n55 is not completely on the same timeline as the n54. The piggies are way more advanced than ever before and porting the development over to n55 isn't such a huge time lag as before.

In the other hand, flashes are more involved with the cars' firmware and versions which is one the major complications for them. Tuning for a big single is far off for them because as you said, they are only now beginning on the base maps.

Vishnu has already been hinting that they were test fitting their big single on an N55 which speaks volumes for the current piggies being able to handle it. Maybe in addition to the fuel trim flash being done on the n54 now.

A lot of the ground works been done, so now it's just retuning for the N55 at this point. The Valvetronic & non-WOT tuning is probably gonna be the biggest "headache" for the N55

OP -- Rob Beck is restarting the R&D in upgrading the N55 turbo. There's more info if you Google for it over on N54Tech.com
