What motor oil are you guys running at DE's?
Assume Stett stg2 so oil should be between 240-260F. Chime in or direct me to the thread I can't find because every thread mentions oil |

Whatever's on BMW's synthetic approved list. I honestly don't think it matters so much, rather the interval of frequency. I change mine every 5000 miles regardless, and with every 3-4 track days.

Any BMW LL01 approved oil, or high quality synthetic should do. Right now I'm on Mobil 1 0W40. Just remember to add about 1/2 quart after a track day if, you are over 50K miles.

Any high quality synthetic oil should be okay for DE's. During our oil analysis with Blackstone Labs between OE BMW, Mobil 1, Redline and Total, Total offered the longest service life without its additive package breaking down as much and offer one of the best protection for the N54 engine.
With 3-4 track days and regular street driving, the additive package is estimated to last up to 7500 miles on the Total. |

No concern for oil weight i.e. thicker oil to help deal with thinning issues at high temps etc? Just whatever BMW recommends and its fine?

With the Stett kit you should not have a problem. I change oil every 2 months (~4 events).
Pre-Stett, when I hitting 300F with the stock OC I was changing oil after each event. The oil now looks very different from when I was hitting 300F, I wish I had done a blackstone analysis back then. |

My instinct makes me still want to use some 15w50 just because it seems like a good idea, but I'll take your word for it. It's been a while since I've been to the track so I'm sure I won't be pushing too hard for now while I tighten the nut behind the wheel. |
