At least you know what the problem is now and you know a company that can get you up and running again.

I would also consider a mod similar to the other guy where he opens up the drain in the ECU compartment. Sure, water shouldn't get in there but it has so you want to stop it happening again.

Sorry completely missed this and probably not relevant anymore!

Basically everything failed according to the idrive. Car started lumpy wouldn't move then wouldn't start.

Mine had a blocked drain was torrential rain and it filled up with water.

Like I mentioned the DME was about a grand from BMW and I think I paid 300 for it to be fitted. I can get the exact amount if helps.
