Alpina E91 CIC update

Hi Im trying to update the CIC on my 2011 Alpina D3 Biturbo E91 as when I connect via bluetooth to my Samsung S8+ no song data or DAB data is shown on the screen, although strangely a couple of times it has?
I've downloaded UPD01008.bin to a FAT32 formatted memory stick and plugged it into the USB drive in my glovebox as I don't have one under the armrest, just an AUX port and cigarette lighter. I've gone into settings but software update does not appear. I've noticed that if I go into BMW Services>Service Status>Update BMW Services and go back into Settings, software update appears but won't actually let me start the update. Once the BMW Services Update has finished the software update option disappears in the settings menu
Nearly all instructions say to use the armrest USB but as I dont have one there is there an alternative way? Any ideas please?

Cheers

I didn't think you could update it if you didn't have a usb in the arm rest, But the fact you can get the update option on the screen. Have you put the update straight onto usb & not in a folder, I say this because my music doesn't show up unless I put in into a folder on the usb stick. try that.

You might try the idrive subforum.
It is my understanding that you have to have the basic
hardware certain updates to work at all.
Like maybe a combox.
And then the order of the updates is important to make
the next one work.
Idrive subforum should know more.

Hi, thanks for the advice. coleybmw35, yes I've put it straight onto the root ot the memory stick, in fact I've tried a few sticks!
ctuna, I noticed after posting this that there was an idrive section so have posted there also. My hardware has never been updated to my knowledge so what you say about trying older updates in order might be the problem. I'll look into it

Cheers
