E91 Winter tyre swap
I have been thinking about getting a set of winter tyres, but wanted some fitment advice.
I have 225 40 18's on the front and 255 35 18's on the rear. Can I just swap straight out for a set of 205 55 16's all round with out any extra work? |

A set of steel wheels would look pretty good on a e91, cheap as well.
Have a look on mrwinterwheels.co.uk. There's also this set on ebay, link attached https://www.googleadservices.com/pag...yABEgJK9_D_BwE

Iv got a set of 16" BMW alloys with winter tyres that i bought and never used. Depending on where you are in the country, we could do a deal on them as they are just collecting dust in my garage. Let me know and il get some pics for you.

16s would be fine - my 2006 325i had them fitted when I bought it.
But my 2005 330i needs 17s to clear the front brakes. |

Or just dont bother. Dont know where you live but here in the southwest I've never felt the need for winter tyres in the 20+ years I've been driving.

Nick46 and rasa i used to say the same thing, why do you need them, you can still drive in snow and ice with summer tyres.......
..... Untill i tried winters, i actually laughed to myself at the difference they made on snow and ice. It felt amazing driving on the winter tyres, so much more control of the car. Braking and steering so much more positive. You still have the drive sensibly, the tyres wont defy the laws of physics. Also in heavy rain they are superb at clearing water, even better than Uniroyal Rainsport tyres. The other added bonus is, (yes initially you have to shell out for a second set of tyres but) once you have them you are saving 3 or 4 months of wear to your summer tyres so your summers last much longer. |

Very true Rasa, hence why i dont have them on my E91 yet. I had a spare set of alloys with winters on for my E46. But this winter has been so mild i havnt bothered. I will eventually get a second set of wheels with some winters on tho for my current E91 when i have some spare cash. I think this year IF we get that one snowy day i will just work from home.
