Are the VRSF "HD" Intercoolers worth it?

Hi guys,

Currently in the market for a new intercooler. It will be used to run MHD Stage 2+ for now, with the possibility of RB Turbos in the future. The 7.5" HD is almost £700 here in the UK.

Will cheaper alternatives do the job, or is it worth it for the VRSF?

Thanks!

What are the cheaper options for you? VRSF is some of the cheapest as well as best performing.

As far as being worth it, anything is worth it over stock but dont skimp on what is critically one of the most important upgrades on the car.

Is Wagner cheaper in the U.K.?

I would consider the Wagner Evo 3 even if it means paying a little more since the build quality is higher.

I think they are made in Germany so this is what I would do as well.

The VRSF and BMS Phoenix 7,5" cost around 600-700 euro in europe/UK, the Wagner Evo 3 around 1000 euro but it weighs 6 kg less bc it has aluminum endtanks.

If you ask me a big IC like this has higher pressure drop than a 5". For just MHD I think it's overkill... The latest 5" HD from VRSF seems to be the best for just FBO, but I don't think it's already available in europe/UK unless directly from the US VRSF website and you pay extra import taxes and VAT.

At this point, you may never get it if you order one. I've been waiting 2 months for my 5" HD and the 7" has a longer lead time.

Just checked and now the 5" isn't available until October...

My $300 Wagner knock off is high quality and served me well for a few years running stage 2+ and now E50 at 20psi or so during these 100F Texas summers.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

A bunch of local guys have various VSRF, ER, PSP, etc. and we see little to no differences in IAT's during normal street use. If you're building a drag car then a larger FMIC will help prevent heat soak and give you quicker cool downs.
