I only added the standard tweeters and amp. I do not feel the need to change the mid range speakers. it really is a 5 minute job to take off the door card so I would add the tweeters first and see what you think.[/QUOTE]

Do you have to do any cutting on the door trim?

The Blaupunkt HU to amp cable deals with both signal and speaker sound returning from the amp to the factory speaker loom.

All sounds quite simple then... What are the grills for under both seats of the 3 series coupe? Are these for Subs? I just picked up the car on Monday so it is still relatively new to me. I think, as the dealer din't know exactly, that I have the standard sound system BMW Professional Radio. How many speakes has my car got? Sory for the stupid questions I will look back in a few months and say "How stupid were you!"

Standard system is mid-range speakers in the front and rear doors, plus under seat 6.5" subs.... the front door speakers and subs run off the headunit front L/R channels and the rears of the rear headunit L/R channels.

I apoloigse for resurrecting such an old thread but it seems the most appropriate one after a few hours of reading!

I have an E90 with a "Professional" sound system and if im honest it's not as good as the standard system in my Astra VXR was

Now with any luck the performance exhaust off of the Astra should be selling soon and ill have a spare few pennies to play with

Now looking through the thread it would seem a lot of people have been upgrading to "Logic 7". Is this a much superior sound system?

Now Iv done installs on the girlfriends car and have no worries with tackling things Im familiar with, however this is my first BMW and I havnt a clue.

So firstly. Upgrading to the Logic 7 speakers, from what iv read is a matter of removing old and plugging in new? Is this all?

Furthermore, Iv heard a lot of mention of SWS-8 subs. From what Iv gathered from various threads these require an amp upgrade to be of any quality.

So, do the subs just clip straight in or do things need amending? Are the clips on the subs the same so there's no cutting of wires etc.

If an amp is needed, do you need to cut/splice any wires to intergrate it into the standard headunit?

And finally, what's the rough cost of all the parts? Iv seen people getting quoted around £500 from dealers which for a few new speakers seems ludicrous to me if it's as simple as people are saying.

Thank you for your time in reading this as Im sure this gets asked at least several times a week but I havn't been able to get the exact answers (idiots guide) im looking for!
