Headlights/Fogs setup...Need opinions!!!!
I am planning on changing my headlights/fogs very very soon...so I need your opinions!!!
I am going to have Alpine HID AE 8K installed....for the hint of blue look. Should I have 1. D1S, AE, Fogs all the same (8000k)? 2. D1S & Fogs (6000K), and AE (8000K)? 3. D1S (6000K), Fogs & AE (8000k)? If I go with #3, I am afraid that the AE color will not match up to the Fogs, since AE output is lessened when D1S are on (correct if I am wrong)... Help!! thanks |

I am also going to be changing mine out, but I am going to go with 8k top and bottom, that will be the closest match. Projectors and reflectors will have a little different color but not too off, by changing kelvins you are going to have a big difference.

when you say 8k top and bottom..what do you mean exactly? Xenons + AE + Fogs? or AE + Fogs only?

One important aspect to remember when choosing lights:
If you are looking for purely cosmetic looks - then the higher K values will get you where you want. If you are actually concerned with Light Output (how far your lighting will illuminate down the road at night) then higher K values actually have REDUCED Light Output. The factory capsules with their corresponding K value lends the highest Light Output and visibility down the road out of any of the choices... Higher K Value = Lower Light Output (visibility) So if you go with higher K than stock, expect to not be able to see as well at night. And anyone that has experience with lighting K values can tell you that there is next to NO difference in looks (color wise) between the factory K value, and 5000 - 6000K. Once you go to 6700K and above, the color change is noticeable.

I have 8k HID on top and I ordered 8k HID for the fogs. I think the fogs would be a little bluer then the top because of the projector difference. You can retrofit projectors if you want the closest match.

I'd go with 6000k AE/xenon and 2500k fogs. Yellow fogs look good and yellow light is MUCH better for seeing in actual fog than white/blue is.
