Fcuk Me! Think I'll be blowing the dust of my 1984 Skyway TA BMX. Wonder if I can still do "bunny hops"? What pi££es me off is the shift in Diesel price over Petrol. Petrol used to be 10% daerer than Diesel when 70% of the cars on the road were Petrol.........Call me cynical but now about 60% of cars on UK roads are Diesel and now it's diesel that's 10% dearer..........don't need to be a scientist to work that one out.......suppose we should be thanking Gordon Brown for this! I'm sure I heard that Petrol is a by-prodcut of refining Diesel and therefore arguably cheaper to produce. So in real terms diesel should have always been more epensive to refine and sell to the motorist Cannot wait for the mass production of H20 cars - watch the cost of water rise 10 fold or alternatively the introduction of a new Goverment taxing structure based on inner city relative hummidity caused by cars!!!! The increased relative hunmidity will make everyones hair go curly......ah...and they will need to use straightners to get it straight.........and these use electricty......you can guess the rest......lol PhilR Last edited by PhilR; 05-16-2008 at 06:53 AM.. Talk about jumping on the band wagon.....
My window cleaner manged to catch me in last night so I had to cough up for the last month. He said he has to put the price up from £4.50 to £5.00 that's more than 10%. I challenged him out of principle (inflation being 3%) and he said it was cos of the rising fuel prices...... PS A fiver is cheap...... but that's not the point PhilR |

Can't see it getting any cheaper, unless HM Government wants to use it as as a 'vote' winner at the next election (eg: lower fuel duty) Unlikely though, too much revenue for Darling (err Brown).... Quote:

I can see the Government having to bring in a scheme to susidise (some kind of tax rebate mechanism) the fuel used by haulage firms etc - The ordinary motorist will continue however to stump up with these highly taxed prices - easy target. If nothing else it will give the transport minister and his cronies an excuse to siphon a tidy sum of tax payers money into setting up such a scheme. i was talking to some friends about fuel we have red diesel for farm machines and diggers ect ect which is half price, i think for haulage companies, they should put a die in it like blue diesel, just for lorrys ,as lorry bring food to stores and lots of other stuff this should keep the price down on food and day to day living would be cheaper to all they pay is what the big companies sell it for

The time is fast approaching for a political uprising of the people. This is going to become a very serious issue for us all.
Not being able to afford to drive to work = An unimaginable level of unemployment! The time will soon come when these ludicrously high fuel prices will start to affect the mobility of the country, thus, the ability of the country to function. It is just not realistic for everyone to start riding bikes as most people no longer live and work in the same village like we did 100 years ago. If we cannot control the price of a barrel of oil, then we should be throwing everything at developing alternative fuels. This should be the government’s number one highest priority over everything else! One short term action is for the government to concede that they cannot rely on taxing fuel as high as they have done for so many years. The one thing that worries me the most is how much political power the Green Carbon Fundamentalists are now exerting on the government and how much of this carbon fascist pressure is effecting oil prices? It is truly scary to speculate just how much power the carbon movement may now have over our governments and industry. The carbon movement is now very big money spinner for those involved in it and they won’t be giving up their power and wealth without a fight! There is still no absolute scientific proof that we are affecting the climate through carbon output. It could still equally be a completely natural cycle that we have little or no influence or control over.

Bang on LRS.
Excellent post and one I agree with 100%. It's quite amazing the disparity in the price of diesel. In the space of 5 miles yesterday, I noticed 3 distinctly differing prices. Gatwick £1.19 ltr Felbridge £1.24 ltr East Grinstead £1.31 ltr. Last week in Newhaven I saw it at £1.35 ltr OK the Govt are taking the proverbial, but some garages are clearly milking the situation and are blatantly profiteering. I can understand some variation in price to a point, but it's getting beyond a joke.

Are we all being psychologically conditioned and brain washed?
http://www.adamsmith.org/blog/enviro...-200803181074/ The Green Carbon lobby is now well and truly in control of our lives and our freedom. • Our fuel is taxed to such a high level to try and force us to buy less, thus reducing carbon. • Our road surfaces are no longer maintained, with potholes everywhere to make driving a more damaging experience to our cars, thus fewer journeys and less carbon. • No major road building or widening making journeys times untenable. People think twice about going out, thus less carbon. Soon we will begin to forget why our lives are controlled and manipulated by this powerful brainwashing force, soon it will seem completely normal to go everywhere on foot!
