Free Oil Change for only $150 - Move me back to the US please!
Just took my 320td into my BMW dealer in Geneva Switzerland for my first FREE service. They said I only had to pay for for fluids -- ok, no big deal -- I know its much more expensive to operate a business in Europe due to high social/government/tax costs (by at least 80% by the way). My wife goes to pick up the car after completion, while I am away on business. The labor and filter were free, but the 5 quarts of oil cost me $105 and some stupid enviromental charge of $50!!!. Yes, thats $21 for a quart of oil! Then, they said I needed to do my bi-annual government required emissions test. No problem, normally this is about $80 for testing at the average shop. Instead, it cost me $350 in labor because they had to do "extra" testing, and the engine was "too dirty" with oil (that they probably spilled!) and had to be cleaned to meet enviromental standards. Then they had the guts to say, "at least your loaner car today was free"... I would go back and complain, but I don't speak french, and in general, customer service is non-existant in this part of Europe.
Can wait to move back to the US, where at the least the dealer will offer KY jelly before asking me to bend over for me FREE service. |

It makes the US the best place to live on earth since things are cheap in here, and wages are high. I was in many foreign countries including in asia, no place can be compared with the U.S. Not even close.

It is the same in Germany as in Switerland. That sucks....
I was back in the States (San Antonio) for a little training around August and I had already ordered my 325i before I left. Well I went to the dealership in town to buy the sunroof deflector, the guy ordered it for me. So I shipped the part back to Germany (they don't sell them at BMW dealerships in Germany because of some transportation law). I had a friend of mine to take the part to be put on the car once it arrived from power plant. I got home end of September and I received my new ride Oct 4 at 5:35 pm. The sales rep told me that the deflector did not fit my ride, but it looked nice on the 5 series. My friend, she was going to order a 5 anyway (she got in on the 07 model, lucky her) so she just bought the part off me. So I called the dealership back in San Antonio talked to this guy in parts and he swore up and down he would send a new one right away (of course I sent the money order with extra$$ for PRIORITY MAIL). Yall, it is March 2006 and I have yet to receive that part. And yes, I have called several times to get feedback from this guy and he has claimed to have mailed it off two to three different deflectors, the last one being on the 17 February. I check my mailbox everyday and nothing. Now if I mailed that extact same part off with extra things in the box and paid around $20 for Priority Mail Shipping and it got to my friend within 12 days without breaking. Why am I having trouble receiving this item?????? Help me to understand this? |
