I replaced the rear pads on my car 2 weeks ago it all went fine no issues.

Last week I was washing the wheels and found the both sides the clip had become loose so I pushed it back on.

I went and checked again tonight and the metal clip was loose again. On one side the bottom lug had come off the calipar holder and was just about hanging on

Do I have to replace the metal clip on both sides because they seem very loose, I can pull them off. Whereas couple of weeks ago I had to use a flat headed screwdriver to pry them off

Are they on correctly? Push them home and give them a bang with a mallet.

Mine are bloody hard to remove!

Maybe the backplates on the pads are not right?

I will use a rubber mallet to bang them home and take it from there.

What do you mean about the back plates, I dont understand?

I bought Textar pads off ECP, I yped in my reg and bought them that way?

I was just thinking that maybe the ends of the clips dont sit properly on the backing metal of the pads.
If its the wrong height or sloping edge, they might be inclined to pop off?
Just a thought as the pads are the only common theme - the centre clips have those internal big spring clips, so surprised they can just come loose otherwise.

I will have another look tommorow. I suspect these being loose wont affect the braking?

Just thinking out a loud that I havent pushed them back in hard enough?

Looks llike I will have to order a new pair as I went to check again today and lost one somewhere (hope they are not expensive)

UPDATE

I ordered new clips from BMW and they arrived today, but when I went to fit them they were like the old ones they can still be pulled off. The end of the clips dont seem to go into the gap between the backing pad and caliper holder?

I think when I bought my pads off euro car parts they are not the right ones?
On the box it said E90, are the pads the same for the E90 and E92?

I realize this is on old thread -- but I had similar issues with my rear anti-rattle clips and I thought I'd share my mistake. I installed them wrong and lost one clip.

Although the shape of the clip suggests that the wide ends of the clip should go 'inside' the caliper housing -- they fit really well there and seem like they'd sit right behind the pad preventing it from rattling -- they actually don't. The wide ends go on the outside of the caliper housing and provide the tension that hold the 'pronged' central portion of the clip against the 'slot' in the round holes.

Note that the orientation of the clip is the same in both the 'right' and 'wrong' scenarios. It is just that the wide ends of the clip push against the bottom of the caliper housing in the 'right' installation, rather than being under no tension (because they are 'inside' the caliper resting against the pads) in the 'wrong' installation.

Once installed correctly -- there is no chance of accidental dislodgment

Moral of the story is note how you take parts off your car so that you can refit them correctly. No harm in taking photos of the installation for yourself beforehand.
With something like anti-rattle springs you know how difficult they can be to get off so they should be equally difficult to get back on again.
If in doubt, fortunately you have one to compare it with on the other side of the car!
