2018 winter build
After seven weekends and a few nights after work, the 2018 winter build is finally complete We did everything we set out to do, namely the manual conversion, fixing all the issues with the ST (heat, position and bonnet clearance) and finally a load of maintenance and upgrade work It was much more work then last years ST install, but it has all been worth it. The manual conversion has totally transformed the car, if you are thinking of taking the plunge, you wont regret it. The turbo has been re positioned and no longer hits the bonnet, there is clearance now, which means we could install proper heat shielding and a turbo beanie (no more melted bonnet vents) Lots of new parts including a CSF radiator, PSP FMIC and all new coolant/oil hoses and a fresh new valve cover Also got lots of maintenance issues sorted replaced the alternator, new oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, pulleys, serpentine belt, new gas struts, bonnet release cable, fresh fluids (oil, coolant, power steering and air con regas) plus lots of rerouting of hoses and stuff to make everything fit nice together As always a big thank you to Vince who without his extraordinary skills, expertise and attention to detail, this would never have happened (thanks mate) As a testimony to Vinces work, the car has run flawlessly, from the first test drive (vid below) not even a single code Pics below Pic 1 - Tidying the wiring and putting the interior back together Pic 2 - Engine bay finished complete with turbo beanie Pic 3 - All done and ready for a drive Pic 4 - Back at home Last edited by Socket; 09-16-2018 at 07:23 AM.. |

Mod 101 - CF shifter knob
Just a small addition to finish off the CF theme in the cabin CF shifter knob. Matches the trim nicely Last edited by Socket; 09-16-2018 at 07:20 AM.. |

Mod 102 - Focal 33KX 13" Subwoofer and Custom Visual Ice SubBox
10" & 12" subwoofers seem to be industry standard size, so had to get the guys at Visual Ice in the UK to fab up this custom sub box to fit the 13" focal Required some heavy duty trimming to fit on the passenger side of the boot where the old CD stacker unit use to be, but turned out to be easier then expected.... Ill be putting the alpine R10 and VI Sub box up for sale if anyone if after a sub for their E92 Pics below Pic 1 - 33KX Pic 2 - R10 set up on drivers side Pic 3, 4 & 5 - 33KX set up on passenger side Last edited by Socket; 09-16-2018 at 07:22 AM.. |

Very glad youre happy with the car, was a lot of work but the end result is awesome with the manual transmission. It really has completely transformed the car to a dimwitted unpredictable cruiser to a precise and responsive sports coupe.

Thanks mate, appreciate the time and effort you put into this. No one else would have the attention to detail or patience to complete this build to the standard you have. Making sure everything is done just right and the results speak for themselves.. said it before and Ill say it again spcgry is as much your car as it is mine.. #thebromanceisreal hahahaha

It is great to hear Spcgry is running so well Socks. It was a huge task and both Vince and yourself deserve a pat on the back for the effort. When is the bonnet with the hammered dint getting replaced? Now that the turbo has been repositioned, I would imagine the dint is no longer required.

You are right, have been hanging out to replace the bonnet In fact I have to replace the whole front end The bonnet is a mess (as you know) Someone backed into the front bar and cracked it. Also it has been on and off so many times where it screws onto the fenders is wrecked. Its cable tied up for the moment but the is a massive gap on both sides, where the fender meets the front bar The M3 fender on the passenger side is ok, but the drivers side mounting points are stuffed so the fender bows out and there is a huge gap between the bonnet and the fender Looking pretty sad really and just not spcgry worthy Have the new front bar, fenders (including new 335i stickers for the indicators) and a new set of black kidney grills (may as well go all out) All I need is a new bonnet and a some dollars to get them all painted and installed Will be a while before I can get it all fixed up because funds are low after all the recent work but will look brand new when its all done Pics below Pic 1 - Bonnet and fuggly home panel beaten power hump Pic 2 - Cracked front bar thanks to some unknow AssHat Pic 3 - Gap between fender and front bar, held in place with cable tie Pic 4 - Gap between fender and bonnet (cringe) Pic 5 - Broken fender mounting points under bonnet |

What a duo! Love Vince's work as always and congrats P. Well worth the wait.. Absolutely stoked at the exhaust tone at lower revs. Sounds almost like a mix of rb26/2jz sort of rumble before boost kicks in. And cant believe someone backed into it.. luckily its only cosmetic. If your looking for any parts near me let me know so I can chase some up for you as there are many bmw wreckers near where I live.. peace x
