Sudden RPM drop while driving
When I'm driving with the accelerator pressed, every minute or so the RPM drops to 2000. I have no control of the engine unless I take my foot off the accelerator, and re-apply it.
My car is a 2010 328i. This issue happens even if I'm in Park or Neutral. I can steadily run the RPM above 2000, and after a while it will suddenly drop to 2000. What is causing this problem? EDIT: This began happening precisely when my speedometer and odometer stopped working. EDIT: I ran a diagnostic using Foxwell tool. I got codes: 581C 581D 5DC6 5DB6 Are these codes related? How many parts will I have to replace? Last edited by sirkd; 05-20-2019 at 08:54 PM.. |

Your faults relate to wheel speed (ABS) sensors. The last two relate to DSC module, but all the codes are related.
With that said, I couldn’t tell you if that’s what’s causing your RPM issue. Is the DSC light flashing when the RPM drop occurs? My first hunch is that the codes aren’t related to the issue you describe, as I’d have a hard time thinking the DSC module would be trimming the throttle when you’re revving your engine in Park. Could definitely be wrong though... Someone else will likely have a better idea of what’s up.
