Steering wheel swap question

I have what I think is a sport wheel on my 08 e92 AT. It's thin with no thumb bulges. I was looking on ebay and saw a M-sport wheel with the push on one side and pull on the other paddle shifters for $200 shipped. I was thinking I could get a sew on cover for it and do it myself. Upgrade the wheel and gain more conventional paddle shifters. My question is would it be a straight swap? Sadly the wheel I had my eye on sold before I could finish writing this.

Yes it's a straight swap and requires some wiring modifications, or a custom harness.

Thanks. I kinda figured that out. Didn't realize the paddles were from a LCI. Made searching difficult.

Those paddles won't work as is on your car. You would have to perform the mods shown in this link:

I did this mod to my '09 e91. Well worth the effort IMHO.

Ah, I have to correct my own post. My previous post is correct ONLY if you already have the older push/pull paddles. Otherwise, lowrydr310 is correct that you would have to custom wire it. This company offers cabling, but has been on backorder for a while:

I have the old style paddles now. Probably end up doing the Nelson Racing paddles instead unless a good deal comes up on a wheel.
