HPFP Failure?

So i had my Fuel pump replaced on Thursday. Car drove fine on Friday when I picked it up. Saturday at night im driving from my friends house and the check engine/reduced power warning came up on the dash and the car sounded like it was misfiring and the whole car was shaking. So I turned the engine off and about 60 seconds later started it again. Drove home for 15 min without a problem (check engine/reduced power warning still on). When I was 2 blocks away from my house the engine was losing power and I couldn't drive over 20 mph. It is Saturday Midnight and all the dealerships are closed tomorrow so i have to wait till Monday to tow the car to BMW service. Did any of you guys experience the problem like this? Is the repair going to be covered under warranty?

Absolutely. If they didn't cover that under warranty, I would be incredibly surprised.

When you say they replaced your fuel pump, you mean the HPFP? That's really unlikely that you'd have a brand-new HPFP and then have that new one die on you the next day.

They told me they replaced HPFP when I picked my car up. If my car is under warranty does it mean they will cover any type of engine mulfunction. The car has only 22, 000 miles and it is already on 3rd HPFP.

3 HPFP in 22k miles seems like too much to me. Mine has had 1 so far in 24k miles. You could probably declare your car a lemon and get them to buy it back?

I've only had to replace my HPFP once...haven't had really any symptoms since then.

I had mine replaced at 2500 miles. I have 6700 miles now and for the first time since the new HPFP, I got a long crank last night. I'm not looking forward to replacing it again.

After doing some research and calling my friend that works for BMW he said that shaking and loosing power is due to bad fuel injectors. He mentioned that more than 70% of cars that had fuel pump replaced come back short time after to replace fuel injectors.

Yep. Happened to me. I had to have an injector replaced in cylinder 2 right after the HPFP was replaced. My car is back in the shop again because it's still not right. I think I have another injector that's not functioning well. The car is not throwing codes, just misses/hesitates at times between 2K-3K RPMs. I'm started to wish I sprung for the M3 sedan.

Good luck.

I just wanted to give an update. My car is at the dealership 4th day already and they don't know what's going on. SA called me today and told me that they replaced turbo sensors and some other parts but the problem still exist. After telling me this he asked me if I had any preformance parts installed and if I was messing with my ECU. I told him that i didn't and he didn't believe me. This really pissed me off because last time I opened the hood was back in August when I detailed my car. My car is bone stock. I was considering buying JB3 or Vishnu but never decided which one I should go with. Right now I am worried that they are going to blame everything on me and never repair the car, or if they fix it they are going to send me an outrageous bill. The only nice thing is that they gave me brand new 4.8L Loaded X5 as a loaner.

So SA called me today and told me that they already ordered new engine for my car. They found hair line crack on cylinder heads and some other parts. I don't know how was this possible since I never got over 4,500 rpm on my car since I got my HPFP replaced last week.

im a newbie and this is going to sound really stupid but what exactly is HPFP...i'm assuming FP is for Fuel Pump but what is HP?

Reason I ask :

I was driving my car today, I floored it and it kind of bogged and i got the reduce power error. I stopped and parked, left the car off for about 20 minutes then when i got back in it was all normal...

Now I am pretty paranoid...i dont know if this is the same issues you guys are having.

I just purchased this car..and i'm a first time BMW owner..i hope it is something simple.

The car is an 07 coupe with 40k miles on it.....

Whole new engine? Damn. Can't say I've heard of that happening before.
