Read about this elsewhere on the forum and mentioned it when I booked mine in for a service today but apparently there is nothing down for my car.

For reference mine is a 57 plate 320i with a build date of September 2007.

Shame the BMW website doesnt have a checker where you can put the vrm in and see if there are any outstanding recalls

Took mine in for an oil service and MOT last week at Rybrook Warwick..
sales rep told me I was down for a "recall".. Ahem I mean "product enhancement"

They did all 6 coils, apparently it's a new part as old ones are prone to early failure. (you don't say!)

Got a feb 2008 325i

1st time at Rybrook and very impressed, best dealership I've used yet.. Just thought I'd share that

A friend of mine with an 07 320i just had his coils replaced under a recall. He only found out about it when he booked the car in for a routine service, no notification from BMW.

It seems that BMW don't like telling owners about recalls. I only knew about the injector recall on my old 335i because of this forum.

I have just returned from BMW Swindon, and can confirm that they are also undertaking the 'product enhancement'. This is much welcome as I have had this problem 3 times in the past 12 months!

My cars suffering the same symptoms and I’m pretty sure its down to the coils, but BMW saying that the chassis number isn’t on their “product enhancement list database” so their not interested. Really annoyed!

dealer told me there is not a general recall as bmw say there have not been enough problem cars (dealer didnt agree!) but they wewre chaanging the coils at a service provided the car had a full bmw service which on a 2007 car is fairly unlikely.

Had my 318i in at Stephen James and they said it was a recall and did it there and then, probably a bit short of work that day!

This recall has been activated even here in Sweden.
BMW is replacing ignition coil (Bosch part2) in N43 and N53 engines.
I rang BMW today to fix service appointment and they told me that BMW is replacing ignition coil in cars with N43 and N53 engines and it affects E6x, E8x, E9x cars in Europe. It is a cost free replacement but no letters have been sent out. My dealer says that it is directed towards those who have their service appointments with the BMW workshops. Sounds odd because if it is faulty, it should be offered to all BMW owners and not just those who book their service with them. Is this a new way to catch customers? Has any one else heard of this replacement?

Do what I did. Take you key into your dealer and hand it to them and ask them to plug it in to their gizmo which tells if there are any outstanding campaigns or recalls on your vehicle. Then they're more or less duty bound to do the work. Worked for me...

Do you know if there is anything that I could get BMW to look at/replace having rough idle and misfire firing symptoms?

I was also there last week. They tried to overcharge me vs. the bmw-service website and scratched my car in several places when they washed it. They didn't ask if I wanted it washed, they just did it. They also used a high pressure jet on the wheels which my alloy repair man always tells me not to do. Not impressed at all.
